On Sept 13th the album that changed the ENTIRE landscape of hip hop, and resurrected the east coast was released on Bad Boy Records... Tho it peaked on the Billboard charts @ #15 it went on to sell 3 million copies and after his untimley death in 97, the album now sits @ over 4x platinum...
Me and my man was just talkin about this earlier amungst other things but he brought up a GREAT point, he basicaly said NaS broke down what was goin on in NYC to a T with Illmatic and was speaking primarily for ahnd to the east c oast with that album... Where with BIG and Ready To Die he was speakin to the ENTIRE country... Every ghetto in America now had something to attach itself to...
To this day one of the greatest debuts in the history of hip hop... That ain't goin change... So while we honor this day as Pac's untimely demise, also remember that this day was also the anniversary of Ready To Die...
