So, the 90s were a GREAT decade for hip-hop.
We so countless Classics released, some of the best ever in their prime, etc.
Which 5 years are better though?

To me, it's 1990-94.
Some of my favorite albums(no order):

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
The Infamous
Ironman
Liquid Swords
The 7 Day Theory
Reasonable Doubt

ATLiens.

Damn, the 90s

No doubt.
@#@+ was crazy during that time period.
You had Pac and Big.
The debut of NaS and Jay
Most of the solo joints from the Wu(the 1st wave of Wu Solo albums

)

To me its almost the same era of hip hop . . . From say 92-97 . . . Then 87-92 was like its own era . . .

Kinda split an era in the middle, the majority of my fav albums came out at that time, but for a change of pace I'll say 95-99
Cuban Linx
Reasonable Doubt
Ironman
Life After Death
War Report
Hell On Earth
Hardcore
Makaveli
Blackstarr
Funcrusher Plus
Its Dark & Hell Is Hot
Flesh Of My Flesh
Capital Punishment
Black On Both Sides . . .

There's no wrong answer tho, cause the early 90s produced some of the most amazing and timeless albums . . .

Don't forget Illadelph Halflife. I swear this album is always overlooked.

This is the majority of what I listen too till this day.

'90-'94 is stronger IMO but I listen mostly to 95-00; both appreciated

it wasn't flooded with BIG time releases but you still had:

Wu-Tang Clan - Wu Tang Forever
Artifacts - Thats Them
CNN - The War Report
Teflon - My Will
Mood - Doom
O.C. - Jewelz
Biggie - Life After Death
Rakim - 18th Letter
Killarmy - Quiet Weapons For Silent Wars
Company Flow - Funcrusher Plus
Common - One Day It Will All Make Sense
Jay - In My Life Time
Messy Marv & San Quinn - Explosive Mode
Royal Flush-Ghetto Millionaire
The Firm - The Album

Worst year in rap ever? It wasn't anything less than a great year for rap.

His freestyles> his album

Hell no.

I have all his freestyles and some are incredible, but better than this album ? No way. This is a top 5 album for sure.

Either way, Big L was a beast on the mic.

`97 was the end , some really DOPE things dropped after that (Pun, CNN, BlackStar , etc...) but the feeling wasn't the same . Giulliani killed NY and therewent the movement .

I feel bad if you didn't experience it prior to then .

i still remember to this day when nas, midnight marauder and wu tang all came out within a matter of months. taking the train. my ears were just ringing. haha

I didnt like 97 too much because all the No Limit/Bad Boy BS was so flooded. It just outweighed the dope stuff that came out that year
