Boom Roasted

From Kobe's Basketball Academy tonight, Kobe accepted the challenge of a one-on-one game with a trash-talking-happy camper.

Earlier in the day, when we were filming the courts with Kobe roaming them watching his campers, the camper told Kobe he'd "need lotion for his feet when he was done." Kobe, beaming at his young camper, responded with, "I've got a long list of people like you." The trash talking continued on in a fun, competitive way; both smiling at each other.

When it was almost time for the one on one game, Kobe told the kid he could shoot for outs and told him he'd better make it or it's game over for him.

Kobe backed him down point after point; telling him he wouldn't take it easy on him as promised earlier in the week when he accepted the camper's challenge.

At the end of it, Kobe won 5-0 and grabbed the mic to ask him what the kid had learned. The courageous camper responded with, "You won't be able to win at Lebron's camp!"

Kobe, laughing, responded back with: "I also won't get dunked on in my own camp."

Just seems a lil backwards to me.....Im not the contract/salary cap guru so if im off base feel free to correct me..

The Luke Walton deal was a mistake. They know it.

Since then the front office has done a good job IMO. Maybe they moved on Bynum to early but it's good to lock up a good center early. Ariza let another manmake a mistake for him so that's something they have to deal with.

I think most of us knew the negotiations with LO would take time. LO is a great versatile player and he deserves to be paid. We just can't give him the 10mil he wants a season. The cap just won't allow that to happen. At least LO doesn't have a dumb agent that will run and just take any deal withouttalking so somebody first. The deal will be done and LO will be where he is supposed to be.

Now our big problem is going to come when Gasol is free. You HAVE to pay him. I just wonder how much in tax penalties will the front office be willing to pay?

All in all good job by Mitch.

the walton contract will never make any sense
at least sasha was hitting some 3's in the playoffs before his contract

^^^ needed to hear it and and see it on vid. 100x better...

you must have a short term memory. that year when luke got his contract he was averaging 11 5 5. and at one point of the season he was shootingthe highest % from the 3pt line IN THE LEAGUE. (probably really early in the year, but still).

the hate for luke walton is amazing. even when he plays well people still still call him trash.

Dope kicks Shaq.. I got my gasol Hypermax yesterday along with DD Kobes and purp/gold dunks..

Tupac03, you are missing the bigger picture here regarding the Walton deal. Yes the Lakers did give him and Vujacic generous contracts partly because they didperform decent their contract years but if you think about it the cost of Walton's salary is also used as a bargaining chip. Many teams with talent signedonto multi-year deals that know they cannot make it anywhere with their current squad are always looking to take on large salaries such as Waton's in hisfinal year to free up cap space and re-tool even if it means giving up one of their better pieces. This is where the genius of Kupchak and Buss come in becausethey trade "role players" like Walton and/or Vujacic for a more talented player to match salaries. I don't know if I'm making any sense but Ihope you know what I mean. In other words, if Walton's salary is not enough, we must give up more of our players to make a trade for their star player withthe bigger salary.

I remember that and still stand by my statement. He had to many boneheaded plays that offset his weak stats. 11 5 5 does not warrant a lifetimecontract

I do understand what you are saying. I was going to type but who would take on luke walton...then I thought hell we did trade Vlad. You may be very right.

Shaq, You had a great year brother. Will you still have the hook up once you dip?

seriously let it go homie.

Luke Walton was paid because he knows his role and fits in perfectly to what the Lakers do.

You expect him to be a knockdown shooter, but he's more of a "glue" player than an offensive skilled one.

Oh and I hope like hell those rumors are true about Lamar bein close.

I need some friggin good news already.

I want the roster complete so we can look ahead already, get rid of Sun, get Morrison up to speed so we have another shooter to eat some of Luke's minutes, and let's get the schedule out so we can see if we reach 50 nationally televised games or not.
