2014 NBA Draft Thread

Isaiah Austin thing brought tears to my eyes .....commish is very classy for that gesture

Yea, I can't believe Napier went so late. Same with McDermott, #11 isn't bad though

And to the Bulls, thats dope for them

i mean didnt

a lot of good players didn't get drafted. Jabari Brown, and most of the players mentioned before are gonna get chances and tear it up in the summer league

I think Doug was being modest with the Wally comparison.
Oh no doubt, Like he could have said Dirk without getting FLAMED from now until October.

He's a Dirker for sure, dudes slept on him. Bulls don't need a Melo now, but it'd be Fire for sure

You know the deal. I mean who woukd settle for Wally lol. I was up on the crieghton games, I know what dude is capable of. Adding melo to that roster would put them over the top.

:rollin

I got love for the Bulls man, and I wish them nothing but success and good-fortune but McDermott is not Dirk bruh.

I like the kid's offensive game, I like his hustle but he's not the post talent that Dirk is, doesn't share Dirk's length (pause that) and he doesn't have an unblockable shot like Dirk's signature fadeaway.

He's def more in the Wally mold.

:lol Don't need Melo anymore, okay.

You guys remember when everyone was hyping up those "All Youth" Philly lineups?

MCW, Stauskas, Wiggins, Noel and all that?

:lol
that would be horrendous

This looks like that team the Rockets were about to roll out right before the Harden trade. I think it was something like Lin, Asik, TJones, D-Mo, and Lamb, with Ro_ce Wh_t_ as the 6th man I guess.

Had a gut feeling the Spurs were gonna take Kyle, it just felt right.

Highly doubt they overpay to retain Diaw now. They have a young point forward who while may not possess Diaw's post play, has a similar skill-set and creates a ton of mismatches.

Not a pick made for his upside/potential. The kid is pretty much who he's going to be for the rest of his career. Conditioning might get a little better but his athleticism or lack thereof caps his upside.

Which is perfectly okay for what the Spurs are setting out to do right now, and that's go out and repeat.

Good pick by the Spurs, kid has an immense knack for finding open teammates, great handle, feel for the game, high IQ kid. Perfect landing spot for him as well.

He will surpass Wally

Nobody is Dirk, Dirks Dirk

I compared him to Dirk over Wally

He does have an unblockable shot

He does have a NICE NICE post game, Very Nice

You saying he's not Dirk, man, I agree, he hasnt even played a game yet.

Chill

He's got a good post game but Dirk's post game is supreme.

But we'll see, I'll let the kid cook. Again I'd never hate on the Bulls, I have the utmost respect and love for them.

I think however ya'll doing Wally a disservice acting like wasn't a pretty darn good player in hie heyday.

His per 36 minutes numbers were eye-popping. The guy could ball. If he ends up being Wally that's a great pick for the Bulls. Injuries kind of did Wally in when he got to Boston.

The guy I was most interested in seeing was Kyle Anderson. I don't think his game fits with anyone but the spurs, so I'm happy to see him land there. He could fill Diaw's spot, but I don't think he's in the same class when it comes to defense. He's also gonna have to get much stronger.

The Diaw / Kyle comparison is albeit convenient, a lazy comparison.

Kyle isn't nearly the athlete that Diaw is / was and that's saying something. He also isn't in the same class from a defender standpoint. Furthermore, he isn't the individual shot creator / knockdown shooter that boris is. When you dig deep into the comparison, you see just how lazy the comparison really is.

Diaw is just such a unique player man that to me it's really hard to compare anyone to Boris really. And, if your NBA comparison is present day Boris Diaw (Because Atlanta Hawks / PHX Diaw wouldn't make much sense) idk if that's necessarily a good thing. He's far too unique of an athlete and player to suggest that anyone is like him / has his likeliness.

Closest Diaw comparison I can think of is a healthy Lamar Odom off the top of my head.

Big guys who can create , pass, rebound, dribble, defend, and knock down a few open shots.
