Besides, people are going to compare new players coming in from the draft to current NBA players if their games and skill set are alike.
It doesn't say they are equal, it says the are alike.
I however am weary of throwing out any likeness between two players because it carries a negative connotation in this thread.
If it can't spark a decent conversation, I be damn if I let it spark flames on why a (example) fresh drafted McDermott isn't as good as a seasoned Dirk

I'll say it again Jakarr Sampson is worth a flier by a good veteran team. He's put on muscle since leaving St. John's and he's been working on his game as a 3. Needs time but this is a first round talent that left too early because our coach is questionable. If you could wait a year and develop him you're getting a steal.

Still can't believe how far off the grid James Michael McAdoo has fallen. At one point in his career, you could make an argument for him being a top 15 pick. As the dude who works in the Mexican restaurant around the corner from my house would say... "Wha Happa?"

I'm not his draft stock was so low he may as well stay at UNC and waited till next year. But he's a perfect example of striking while the iron is hot, freshman year he was a lottery pick and now he's waiting for a camp invite.

Short standing reach, he's never going to block shots, I think you have to hope he just stays average.
