Sources tell me UF DB coach Travaris Robinson has emerged as the lead candidate for USF’s DC job

Josh Newberg ‏@joshnewberg247 3m3 minutes ago
I'm being told that if things don't get turned around at USF next season, look for one of these hires at OC or DC to possibly get that job.

**** thought they said T-Rob was going to be retained. Big loss for us if he goes, but can't blame him for coming up.

Would Notre Dame got left out if they were in the same position as TCU and Baylor?
nope.. the powers that be wouldn't allow one of the "historical" programs to get left out in the cold like that

same thing goes for auburn in '04 (or Miami in '00).. there is no where near the outcry that there should have been for that team.. but let that had been florida, texas or the holier than thou notre dame, they would have had to shut down the whole thing
What makes you so sure they get in over a team like Ohio St, a team whose history takes a backseat no anyones?

Big Ten was looking at Notre Dame and maybe Virginia or Virginia Tech (before Maryland/Rutgers decided to join).

Probably more likely that McElwain goes after Harriot now then, no?

Bill O'Brien will scoop up Christian Hackenberg in the fifth round in a year or two.

The whole TCU vs. Baylor head to head argument in support of Baylor over TCU makes me wonder if people actually watched that game.
I'll play.

I think Baylor should have been ahead of TCU and I did not watch the game. If we're talking about teams that should have won games but didn't, there are about 4 that should have beat Florida State. LSU and Mississippi State probably should have beat Bama; and probably Arkansas too.

Just looked up the stats. Almost 300 more yards than TCU.

Not saying who is the better team, but Baylor is correctly ranked over TCU. They have the same record and Baylor won the matchup on the field. I figured the committee would let it boil down to the head to head.

idk just thought about the pipelines and TV spots could be a win win

especially for FSU they run through that conference no one can say they dont play anybody same with Baylor and TCU

I think it would be the best conference topping the SEC

A couple years ago it was rumored that FSU was approached by the Big XII as a possible candidate to join. The deterrent was the absurd buy out clause from the ACC which was something like $50M. Obviously Maryland got out and I believe settled for far less though I never remember seeing a figure.

In regards to expanding the SEC - remember reading that existing members of the conference did not want to expand within states that already had schools due to fear of saturating the market. Adding more schools would have possibly lead to diluted revenue.

Here's a link I found from 2011 (it's Fox so I take it with a grain of salt):

In fairness Miami would have won a share of the title if FSU had won. Thinking about how bad we would have beat Oklahoma brings back bad memories.

Everybody looks at ND. And they look right back and say, "Naw, we're straight." They have no reason to join a conference. They have their own TV deal that they don't have to split.

Stats are slightly deceiving because TCU had a pick six and a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Anyways. The discussion is dumb at this point because both got left out.

It's a moot point.

But in regards to the game, people keep saying "Even though TCU looks like the better on field team today they lost head to head to Baylor so there's no discussion about who's better between those two teams specifically." And that's why I aid I'm not sure if the people saying that watched the game.

Baylor put up all those stats in the 4th quarter and it was on a handful of huge quick strike TDs. They also got bailed out on a suspect pass interference call when literally 2 or 3 plays earlier TCU ran the same play and had a Baylor defender commit the exact same foul and didn't get a flag. The game would have been over right there, but the refs gave Baylor the bail out in that situation and didn't give it to TCU.

Yes, the Horned Frogs playcalling and secondary choked it away and at the end of the day "scoreboard," but Baylor didn't exactly prove to anyone they were the best team in that conference.

Michigan reached out to Jay Gruden.

The Gruden last name is the gift that just keeps on giving.

Sounds like UF/Auburn will just outbid USF for TRob. But I wonder if the possibility of becoming HC if they get rid of Taggart is intriguing? Maybe not even (practically), a guy like TRob may think that he can turn them around with his recruiting? Wasn't Willie Taggart looked at as one of the top up and coming guys when he got that job a few years back?

You're a Bengals fan right?  How did you guys feel about him?

He was one of the guys I wanted for the Lions, but having 0 college experience is a huge negative.

Initially, felt good. He had a rookie QB, rookie leading WR, and a running game led by Cedric Benson in the playoffs. Most of that was how good the defense was under Zimmer though. After year 3, most were not upset to see him gone. He had Dalton throwing the ball 40 times in big games and refused to give Gio more of the workload when it was clear that BJGE was trash. Not sure how any of that translates at the college level though

Just more entertained that he was given that ******** HC job and then now alleged interest from a school like Michigan after this year hasn't been successful at all for him. May say more about the coaching search right now than Gruden, honestly. Had a friend bet that Schiano ends up with the job.

Big 12 commish Bob Bowlsby says if he was a selection member he would have voted for TCU for 4th spot, not Baylor.

Did you read the post?

Heard that he took in the OSU game with a bunch of former teammates who were asking him to fix things, to which he said (paraphrased) 1) you'll have to wait a bit here and 2) I'll have to get paid like a top five college coach.

The upshot of the first bit: Harbaugh isn't going to to anything that would be seen as abandoning his team, even as their playoff odds get extremely long. Don't expect something until the 28th, if Michigan is still waiting then.

The upshot of the second: I don't think we're talking Godfather money here, but something approximately Saban/Meyer yes. This was apparently the subject of a brief tug-of-war at the AD/prez/regents level when Schlissel balked at the idea and the regents were like "no, actually, this makes sense because X and Y." They are good to go for compensation, with donor aid.

I like the sound of this.

T-Rob will be the head coach at UF after Mac gets fired in 3 years.

Just saw a promo for the U Part 2

Comes on Saturday after the Heisman ceremony.
