For arguments sake, a "#1" on a bad team is not the true definition of a #1 in this conversation, which is someone capable of bringing a team to a Championship level and not the 8th seed of their conference, at best.
If you want Klay to "be his own brand" and lead a team to a chip, he would then have to join a team with another #1, much like KD and Curry and Lebron and Kyrie are all #1s.
Klay goes to New Orleans and teams up with A.Davis, they're both "number 1's" because Davis would avg 25-12-3, while Klay would avg 27 and make 300 three's in a season.
Klay teams up with Westbrook, Klay still scores over 25 a game. Klay teams up with CP3 and Griffin, and Thompson most likely leads the Clips in scoring.
