Rich Cimini says team wants to re-sign DT Damon Harrison despite fact that he'll command about $5M per year
though one for me. If this was last year I would've said sure, but after Fitz's play - I dunno what to think.http://m.nydailynews.com/sports/football/jets/colin-kaepernick-49ers-jets-sources-article-1.2518118 [emoji]129300[/emoji][emoji]129300[/emoji]
if you could get Kaep for the low you kinda have to take a chance on him
maybe a winning environment & a bunch of weapons on offense can turn him around
**** Fitz. He failed us when he was needed the most all those pretty numbers didn't mean **** when it counted
like Bart said, they left Revis in Orbit.A running game and a defense that can tackle goes a long way. They put too much on Fitz, also WTF kind of defense were they running?
I rather RG3 than Kaepernick. RG3 at least is talented.
we signed Dri Archer to a future/reserve contract
really like the move. ran a 4.26 40 at the combine & we need a KR/PR badly
With Justin Tuck's retirement and the health of Mario Edwards Jr. still very much in question, the Raiders will have some holes to fill on the defensive line this offseason.
They might be able to address those needs in the draft in late April, but with the best cap situation in the league, Oakland will definitely be looking to make a splash in free agency. And one of the players they've reportedly been keeping an eye on is Jets defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson.
Coming off a career-best season, Wilkerson is due to be a free agent for the first time and will be seeking a big payday. Fortunately for the Raiders, money shouldn't be a big issue as they seek high-profile additions this offseason.
"They have free agent dollars burning a hole in their pocket," CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora said of the Raiders. "They'll be going big-game fishing. It won't be (Panthers linebacker Luke) Kuechly or (Broncos linebacker) Von Miller, but how about Mo Wilkerson? That's the one they thought about trading for a year ago. If he's not franchised by the Jets, they'll pounce on him. If he is, they could still work out a trade."
The Jets have reportedly made it a priority to franchise Wilkerson, but as La Canfora indicated, that doesn't necessarily mean the end of the Raiders' pursuit of the 6-foot-4, 315-pound defensive end. New York faces a much more difficult cap situation than Oakland, and with the tag for a defensive end predicted to be around $15.5 million, the Jets could very well be open to a sign-and-trade.
Meanwhile, the Raiders' biggest needs are in the secondary, but the addition of Wilkerson would give the Silver and Black a nasty defensive front. Wilkerson is in the prime of his career, having posted a career-high 12 sacks this season two years after recording his previous best of 10.5 in 2013. He's equally good against the run and mismatch problem because of his combination of size and explosiveness.
Put that caliber of player on the opposite side of Khalil Mack, with guys such as Dan Williams and Justin Ellis in between, and the Oakland defensive line becomes one of the best in football.
We're a ways away from any of this becoming a reality, and the report that the Raiders want to pursue Wilkerson is in part based on past interest. However, it's a move that would make a lot of sense for the Silver and Black and one that is certainly plausible.
