2019-20 New York Jets season thread. 1-4 (10/21 vs NE MNF)

2 year deal worth up to $5M

Did a good job filling in for Demario. Happy we brought him back.

Happy birthday to my favorite Jet Brandon Marshall :hat

meant to post this earlier but one of my favorite moments from last season:

Basically. Last year I was on the Fitz is gonna be just what we need train. No way he replicates what he did last season and he still ended our season with throwing a crucial pick. Don't want him anymore

Personally I think whoever we have behind center it's going to be a down year record wise. The schedule is much harder.

On paper, yes. But with football I think it's unfair to judge how a team will do without seeing when they play each opponent. For instance, we play Seattle next season. That game could be Week 2 when guys are fresh out the gate, or it could be Week 13 when they are banged up/resting guys because Russel Wilson is in concussion protocol.

Strength of schedule comes into play dependent on when we have a verse a team, not just who.

You're right, it's not who you play, but when you play. I'm just saying, I would dial back on the high expectations coming off of last season.

#FitzWatch2016:

Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports the Jets have offered free agent Ryan Fitzpatrick a $7 million annual salary but are willing to go up to $9 million a year.

Fitzpatrick is asking for $16 million a year. The two sides are miles apart and both seem willing to wait it out. Cole reports there is "little or no faith within the organization" that Geno Smith is capable of taking over the starting job, which means the Jets will have to look elsewhere if Fitzpatrick doesn't agree to their terms. One replacement option Cole mentioned was Mike Glennon, who is entering the last year of his deal with Tampa Bay.

Hopefully Geno sitting last year helped him understand the offense. I say give him 4 games to prove himself. If he trash throw in a vet we hopefully signed in the offseason or petty.

4 games is a quarter of the season

best case scenario we go 2-2. that probably puts us behind Oakland, Baltimore, & Pitt/Cincy in the wild card race

They'll give in to Fitz sooner than later. Don't know if it will be $16M but I think it's fair to say they really aren't about to go out there and sign a guy like McCown, or waste a 2nd round pick for a Glennon.
