Reorganizing and putting some shoes away for storage. Thought while a lot of pairs were out that it'd be a good time to take a shot of my favorite 10 SBs in my collection. Lots of sentimentality with some of these, I remember getting Shanghai 2s and Voorhees as a kid and scrubbing them clean after each wear lol.

grew out of my Shanghai 2's a few years ago. that was sad moment for me. it's almost like they don't exist in my size (9) for a reasonable price.

Yeah I knew it was a risk, but it’s a 3 months preorder so hopefully he puts some excellent craftsmanship into em lol, he does good work on his previous stuff so I have confidence... we shall see in February and I will share my joy or my disappointment.

My grandpa lives in Queens so ever since I was young we would go to a Dim Sum place near him to eat. Wore my Shanghais to dozens of those lunches loll. Was always thinking of grabbing a second pair but felt sentimentally was better to rock with this single pair.

So I received My jades from premier oh man they came with a black mark on the left toe box on the center Will see if I can fix it with a suede eraser and brushing it

So he would be knowledgeable in an area in an environment he works at. Not all shoes that look like J's are J's. If a person works at a shoe store, I expect that person to know about shoes, not just what's the latest trend.

Kinda stiff. They're ok to me, not bad but not great. Didn't like them as much as I thought I would.

The leather is good IMO. There can be inconsistencies with how deeply embossed some parts are, as is the case with my pair, but it’s not that big of a deal IMO, and the leather is still pretty good regardless. Not soft az leather, but not plasticy.

Was so pleasantly surprised that I tripled. They were below retail/clearanced in my size. Definitely not plastic-y. Really comfortable too. Fat tongue, old tooling, fresh white, cheap - can’t go wrong.

I can’t tell if you’re trolling or not...but these dudes are likely getting paid minimum wage and have a very limited knowledge of “sneaker culture”...do you get mad at mcdonald’s if the dude flipping burgers doesn’t know how to properly cook a filet mignon?

I worked at a music store when there were music stores around. I didn't work there because I knew the top 20 billboard hits. I wanted and had to know every type of music genre; jazz, blues, easy listening, hard rock, even classical and I mainly listened to rap and r&b. Because of the knowledge I gained from learning about all these other types of music, I knew more about artists I would have never known about and I gained an appreciation for them. Now if I came in there looking for runners, don't be pointing to me some Air Max 270s or Reacts coz they just came out.

My belief is that you should have at least a minimal understanding of your field of work.

I don't expect you to be able to tell me every single model and all the tech specs and collab info. But you should at least have a basic understanding of different models.

I would expect that someone who works in a store such as Footlocker has some level of appreciation for shoes. And if you don't know....just don't say anything. Just say "nice shoes" and keep it moving.
