But the reason the Clippers have not been mentioned as a serious suitor is no mystery. Sources say that the Clippers won't factor into James' thinking as long as they continue to be run by Sterling, whose increased willingness to spend over the past decade has done little to change his reputation as one of the league's worst owners. ESPN.com

But the factors that have led us to this point, some accidental and some intrinsic to the way the NBA works, says a lot about where the power lies in the league these days. And it's not with the teams' front offices. "I think they have the right to talk, so it's fine with me," says Donnie Walsh, the president of the New York Knicks, a team that has boatloads of cash to spend on free agents this summer. "I don't know if it's being interpreted the right way. What they want to do is see if and where spots are going to open. They're trying to make sure they're not getting in each other's ways." Wall Street Journal

A strong theory that LeBron James will pass on the Knicks because he doesn't want the extra pressure and scrutiny of the New York market doesn't wash with South Jamaica's Lamar Odom. "Of course he can handle the pressure," the Lakers forward told The Post. "Obviously he can. He's so well-established." Odom still pulls for the Knicks and would like to see James on Broadway, despite what look like long odds. "To get a player of his caliber would be great for New York City," Odom said. New York Post

If LeBron James turns to Charles Oakley for advice on where to play next season, the Knicks could be out of the running. Oakley slammed his former team in an interview with a Miami radio station Friday. "I can't tell him to go to New York," Oakley said. "New York treated me bad. ... When I go to the Knicks games, do you know that they have somebody that follows me around to see what I say to the press?" New York Post

Oakley lives in the Cleveland area and is friends with James. If James does ask, Oakley would point him toward the Heat. "I said maybe Chicago or Miami . I think him and (Dwyane) Wade would be great together," Oakley said. New York Post

The widely held assumption is that James can secure more sponsorship money in New York than in Cleveland . That is not a widely held assumption among most who study this sort of thing. "The knee-jerk reaction and conventional wisdom is that by coming to New York, he would further his chances for endorsements,'' said Andrew Forman, an associate professor of marketing at Hofstra. "He's already the highest-earning endorser in the NBA without being in New York. It's hard to say he's been hurt by being in Cleveland to this point.'' Forman said that, as a Knicks fan, he would love to tell James that coming here would boost his bottom line, but he said, "I'm not sure it really makes much of a difference. Newsday

What do ya think ESPN would make of this ?

and Tony kornheiser said that it would be great if lebron went to the clippers and it would be even better than him going to new york. really? like reeeally now? i'm done watching ESPN for the next month. worse than fox news

In 2008, when Tony Kornheiser was a Monday Night Football commentatorfor ESPN, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers once sat downwith him for a pre-game production meeting.

It would be an extreme understatement to say that Rodgers came away unimpressed.

In an interview with ESPN Radio in Milwaukee, Rodgers went off onKornheiser and said he was embarrassingly unprepared for his job.

"You know who was better than Tony Kornheiser? Dennis Miller was tentimes better," Rodgers said, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. "DennisMiller was a great comedian, but one of the worst Monday Night Footballguys ever. And he was ten times better than Tony Kornheiser. His stuffwas actually funny. Tony wasn't funny at all. He did absolutely noresearch. We'd sit in those production meetings and he would addabsolutely nothing to the conversation. I'd be like, 'What are we doinghere? This is stupid.'"

Rodgers praised Monday Night Football play-by-play man Mike Tirico ascoming into production meetings thoroughly prepared. Kornheiser? Not somuch.

"You get in there with Tony and he's asking you all these dumbquestions that have no application to the game you are playing oranything you are doing," Rodgers said. "He's terrible. . . . I don'tthink he's funny. I don't think he's insightful. I don't think knows, really, anything about sports."

Most football fans regard Ron Jaworski as one of the top analysts inthe business, but Rodgers isn't particularly thrilled with Jaworski, either.

"I like him, but, when I was coming out, he did the worst segment inthe history of TV about me talking about my fundamentals," Rodgers saidof Jaworski. "It was not even close to anywhere near my fundamentals. The first time I met him, someone introduced me to him and I said,'Yeah I know him. He's the guy who ripped me before the draft.' Therest of the night he told me how great I was. I was like, 'I know yoursong and dance.' And now he loves me."

The whole interview, in which Rodgers criticized other ESPN employeesand took a shot at the Detroit Lions, is well worth listening to.Rodgers comes across as an entertaining and engaging player who's notafraid to speak his mind. When he retires, he'd be perfect for theMonday Night Football booth. Or as co-host of Pardon the Interruption.

I never take Aaron Rodgers seriously in anything besides his play on the field. That's just me.

Can we make some sorta rule where we cannot post any money facts from the Isaih era? It's just depressing to look at.

I believe he's leaving, hopefully it's here, but he ought to distance himself from that organization
man ive been slacking but yeah, on point right here. I love how the media makes it out to be like it would be some HUGE project turning us around, when he already has had the best record in the NBA 2 years straight with a team full of #%#%. Not saying they are elite, but imo i can safely say that our core > Clevland's minus Bron, ALSO we have the $ to bring in a guy like Chris Bosh. Show me a guy who thinks that winning with the Knicks core of Gallo (a PERFECT compliment to Bron because of his shooting as i have mentioned numerous times, 3 players on the Cavs were top 10 in 3point % and none of which are even half the shooter that Gallo is), Will (a guy who can get into the lane and help take some of the pressure off Lebron or worst comes to worse package in a deal for a PG), and Lee (a LEGIT NBA All-Star which the Cavs dont have if we can get him back here), PLUS Chris Bosh (an all-NBA caliber player and an Olympic gold medalist which the Cavs certainly do not have and have no cap and therefore no chance of getting)... is more of a project than winning with the cavs old, expensive, and untalented core, and ill show you a hater.
"That's his decision," Jay-Z said. "We're friends - we've still gotta hang out! I don't want to convince somebody to do something, then have to see him and say, 'Uh, yeah, we're 4-30 ... sorry.'"

I think you deserve a really good fap session. Seriously, this whole ordeal has to be worse than a colonoscopy for you Cav fans.

Another thing with gallo is if you put him 2-3 with Bron.. That's a big mismatch like 90% of their games with a 6"8 & a 6'10 player on the wing

So was LeBron a factor in the Thibodeau hiring or not? Although it appears the Bulls did enough due diligence to make sure LeBron wouldn't be averse to Thibodeau, sources insist that the hiring was not the result of a quid pro quo arrangement with Wesley and his employer, CAA. In fact, I'm told that the Bulls were willing to settle for a LeBron-neutral approach and that LeBron neither endorsed nor rejected Thibodeau. ESPN.com

James Gandolfini, famous for playing the role of the mob boss Soprano, was presenting at Spike TV's Guys Choice Awards. The New Jersey native gently requested LeBron's services in his adopted home of New York City. Watch the video here via the New York Post. "First things first, LeBron I would like you to come to New York, if you could," Gandolfini said, according to the Post. "If you miss Cleveland, you just have to drive across the bridge to New Jersey, it's pretty much the same thing." The camera cut to James, who was in the audience, sporting a wry smile. Gandolfini, like he did in the final season of "The Sopranos," attempted to fan the flames between NYC and its perpetual little brother. "C'mon, I love New Jersey," Gandolfini said. FanHouse

Jay-Z and a maximum contract might not be enough to lure LeBron James to New York - but maybe some T-shirts and umbrellas will. Passionate New Yorkers wrote messages and left gifts at a Moishe's storage unit outside Madison Square Garden in the latest kooky effort to sign the King to the Knicks. Moishe's said it will deliver the unit to James in Ohio next week - or at least try - as part of its "New Yorkers Want Their King" promotion. New York Daily News
Source: LeBron Not Deterred By MJ's Legacy In Chicago
Jun 10, 2010 6:10 PM EST

A source tells Chad Ford of ESPN that contrary to the speculation of some, LeBron James does not view Michael Jordan's legacy as a negative in his decision on whether or not to join the Bulls.

"That's not how LeBron sees it, according to a source familiar with his thinking," wrote Ford. "Rather than a deterrent, LeBron seems to see Jordan's imprint on the Bulls as an enticement -- not as a legacy to fear but as one to consider joining."
Sources: Bulls Were Late Addition To LeBron's List
According to two sources with knowledge of the thinking within the inner circle of LeBron James, the Chicago Bulls were a late addition to the list of teams he would genuinely consider in order to establish an alternative to the New York Knicks should he decide to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers this summer.

There are three distinct components and motivations behind the strategy:

The first is to quell the loud rumors that James has had strong interest in signing with the Knicks as a free agent, which had been building for almost two years and were perceived to be on the verge of spiraling out of control after the Celtics knocked the Cavaliers out of the playoffs. Indeed, the New York chatter had literally become a chorus when the Boston crowd serenaded James with “New York Knicks

i said it's the first one a couple of days ago. it's kind of obvious. those NYK chants made his team realize that they need to switch up the narrative. especially because people said he threw game 5

i view the bulls as plan B. if Bosh doesn't want to come to the knicks (or another max guy) then he will most likely sign with them.
