I'm in community college right now and this quarter I won't be getting financial aid or the rest of the year. Because of that I was thinking abouttaking just 1 class and paying that outta my pocket from money I saved up from my seasonal job. It turns out with my financial situation after the holidayspending I wouldn't have a lot left I proceed to do this.

Should I take the one class for this quarter or just save my money until next quarter (my seasonal job will be starting up again by this time)? And if Idecide not to take a class this quarter I really don't have anything to do during the day except going to the gym and trying to find another job (I'vebeen applying to places every now and then since October and no phone calls back).

What would ya'll do?

even if you took one class that would still give you PLENTY of time to work...possibly your seasonal job and another part time job...

im paying for my classes too and im in community college

i wanted to take the time off and save but ultimately i had to stay in school to be able to get on my fathers health insurance, also there was a program thatsplit the tuition up into 5 affordable payments.

just take the one class and look for another job like mouse said. it's better to be makin a little progress in school than to be stagnant. also beingenrolled in school has a lot of benefits too

I don't know how ya'll go to school with out any kind of student loans or financial aid...its nearly impossible. 1 class a semester is as good as nottaking a class at all, at that rate you'll graduate in what, 20 years? Might as well just get a job.

community college is mad cheap though... or cunys are affordable as well, in addition there is sallie mae which breaks tuition up into fivepayments

This. Its a pretty common screening process, if you don't call back, you must not want the job that bad. So, they wait to see who calls them, and thenset up an interview. You can't just turn in applications and then just sit back and watch the phone.

he already has a job although its seasonal...and he was thinking of takin one class for this semester which is better than nothing..,.

and nearly is a key word in your statement...meaing it is possible

I'm in your boat as well, but I'm taking out student loans each semester to pay. I get a measly $250 a semester from FA (I'm in a Cuny CC ). Ithink it comes out to $1,750 a semester for me but I certainly can't afford it right now.

This is what I use, it's sent directly to my school. Takes about 6 weeks I believe, so make sure you do it ahead of time. (I actually need to get on my#$## and fill mine out this weekend

My advice to you would be to go to school for this semester, take the one class and find another job on the side. Get your money together and save enough soyou can pay for the other semester. Hopefully next year you'd get financial aid. If you're in NY and attend a CUNY you can do Sallie Mae.
