You don't go from being a shy quiet dude to giving speeches like Barack Obama overnight. You have to progressively work on it everyday until it becomes second nature. A good way of doing this is by working at a job that involves A LOT of interaction between people like a customer service rep.

I'm situationally shy. Friends and family know I'm very shy but I can be social and extroverted when necessary, like during interviews or presentations, or even sometimes at social gatherings. But I'm bad at small talk in group settings unless I know people very well or am just in my comfort zone.
I know for me when I overthink or plan too much, it prevents me from talking a lot. Doing things spontaneously seems to help.

I do this. I work as a server, and I actually enjoy getting to meet new people at work. I never knew how many men were interested in me until I started working there, because I had only been around guys at school prior to that.

I would do this except my coworkers think that I don't talk enough to be up for the job as a cashier position so they don't let me be a cashier. It's a seasonal job though so I'm not workin right now. One of my boys tho said he could hook me up with a job at Sunglass Hut... I think it would help maybe.

I can talk to people, I have no problems communicating, I just don't give a !!*# about what people have to say. The majority of the people I talk to have nothing intelligent to say, and it's always seems to be the same recycled garbage.
I do have a tendency to tense up when in large groups of people, but that's because I've spent most of my life alone.

Pretty much man. You deal with that a lot in college. Its always the same questions and comments. That said I wish I could be more open but its just not in me.

One thing I live by: You only live once. If you waste your life away in quietude and loneliness, you'll never know what life would've been like if you made friends with a certain someone or talked to a certain girl.
