The company valued at $6 billion in 2021 has waived the white flag and filed for bankruptcy last week. Take action now if you’re worried about your genetic data moving forward, as a 3rd party company takes over.

*$300 million investment from Big Pharma Glaxo

Glaxo: In 2012, under prosecution by the United States Department of Justice (DoJ) based on combined investigations of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS-OIG), FDA and FBI, primarily concerning sales and marketing of the drugs Avandia, Paxil, and Wellbutrin, GSK pleaded guilty to promotion of drugs for unapproved uses, failure to report safety data, and kickbacks to physicians in the United States and agreed to pay a US$3 billion (£1.9bn) settlement. It was the largest health-care fraud case to date in the US and the largest settlement by a drug company.[10]

The idea people gave up there dna is mind boggling.
Agreed. And you really trust what you get back?

If you don't have a family historian and depending on what circumstances there were, I can absolutely see doing it if you're trying to trace your history. Lost, stolen or strayed.

Regular medical practices are probably doing the same thing with our data/dna. So everyone has given it up.

Sites like that is how people found out at least 50 fertility doctors were using their own samples to inseminate women.

Other doctors give out fake cancer diagnoses to fraud insurance/Medicaid giving chemo to healthy people

Never giving my DNA. Lucky for me my family members gave theirs. So Government has access to me, basically.

They keep a copy of your genetic code to do what they want and share with Government as needed. But then go and tell you things like, you come from this region. F that. Sheepels lining up to give their DNA too.

Literally how I found my Biological father, through finding siblings.

I get the hold up with others and not wanting to give it up, I had to know though. I'm willing to deal with those consquences!

This was my concern with this stuff. What's to stop bad actors from buying this?

To all the, "I can't believe anyone would sign over their DNA" comments; (I can only speak for Black Americans) what do we expect people to do when they legit have NO idea where their folks came from? So many of us signed up for these programs for a reason.

Yeah I’m adopted and never met my biological father. I’ve discovered and connected with MULTIPLE half brothers and sisters from my father’s side, and also was able to prove my dna relationship to a Hollywood celebrity on my mothers side of the family.

I’m okay with the government or whoever cloning my dna to make meat popsicles or whatever with my spit sample. But I’m aware others might not be okay with that, and that’s why I’m sharing.

For sure, you can't deny the benefits, know people who discovered family.

Still in the wrong hands it doesn't have to be as extreme as cloning, could be used to deny treatment because your historically shows you're genetically predisposed to something etc. Employment, immigration etc.

yeah i'm wondering the risks of this and i've read lots of scenarios where something sinister could happen but has anything sinister actually happened?
i've read lots of hypotheticals

OK, y’all take it to a different level. I’m more worried that they’re just sending out completely fabricated stories lol
