Tanahan is one of the biggest morons in the NFL living off of past glory. What an idiot. How are you going to bench your QB a week after he finished with 2 TDs 0 INTs 100 QB Rating and completed 63% of his passes? In a game where the kicker missed 2 chip shots and then the holder managed to blow an extra point? Where is the sense in that? How does Gano even still have a job after last week's game?

McNabb has been an above average QB for over 6 seasons now and suddenly he is having one of the worst seasons of his career playing for this orange bastard. Tanahan should do the math.

If it is possible to handle a situation any worse I dont see it.
Guess that contract re-up seems stupid right about now.

). Can you honestly say that there has been a game where McNabb has led the Skins to victory because of his passing or decision making? He's been TERRIBLE. I'm not a Grossman advocate at all, but none of us are there at the practices to know what's really going on behind the scenes. For all we know, Grossman could look better than McNabb (which isn't saying a lot). He has familiarity w. Kyle Shanahan's offense, and maybe...juuuuuust maybe he'll be as efficient as Todd Collins when he filled in for Jason Campbell a few years back. Remember, Collins had familiarity w. the Al Saunders playbook which Jason Campbell had a hard time grasping. The writing is on the wall for McNabb and it just didn't work out....whatever. Go back to the drawing board, draft a young QB, and go from there...

*For those of you defending McNabb, what are your reasons for him STAYING as the starting QB for the remainder of the season

Shannahan is a complete idiot. NOBODY is winning under center for that offense.

So why does it matter that Grossman is starting?  If McNabb has been ineffective, see what Grossman can do...

STHU
You stay defending Shanahan and I will never understand how you can do such things when time and time and time again this fool comes up with a new way to make this season worse than it already is.
When you trade a draft pick for a QB and sign him for more money, you DON'T bench him, especially for someone whose only snap this year was when with the game on the line that ended up resulting in a fumble for TD the other way. Let's just remember one thing. Talk about how McNabb has been playing all you want to, but the beginning of the season we kept talking about how McNabb would do in a system that was not a PASS First system, with the talk of Shanahan's famed Run Blocking system that would fit any RB... What did us ******** fans get? Games where Shanahan barely called 20 Running plays and Games where McNabb dropped back to pass to THREE WR ALL UNDER 6 Feet in Height 45-50 a game. Rex Grossman? He's barely ever played well in the offenses he has knowledge of when he was the starter, what makes you think he'll do do well now?!

Come one man, HOW MANY GAMES HAS MCNABB LOST FOR THE SKINS THIS YEAR?

And why does it matter who starts against Dallas? Because you play to win the damn game... Because its Dallas Week. Because you don't want to finish last in the NFC East. Because no matter what the record is, you're supposed put your best players on the field to win every game possible and not look like you're putting your tail between your legs, running away and saying "There is always next year..."

He was fired in Denver for a reason. He hasn't won a playoff game in a damn decade...

How many GREAT head coaches, not above average, but great head coaches were fired from the place they won?

What are you talking about?  I already said that Shanahan shouldn't be absolved of blame in this whole ordeal....but you're sitting here being a McNabb apologist for whatever the reason.  He's a good guy...we get that.  He's got class...we get that....He probably deserves better...we get that.  However, he's underperformed.  He was brought here (along with Shanahan) to turn things around.  I don't know how anyone can sit here and defend his play.  It's painstakingly clear why no extension was given earlier on in the season.  When a QB of McNabb's caliber is brought on, expectations SHOULD be high...the fact that we can sit here and nit-pick about how much of an effect he's had on Skins wins/losses is telling.  He's had little-to-no impact on the wins and in the losses he hasn't asserted himself as a player who did all he could to give his team the best chance in the game....he's been abysmal and the trade didn't workout....I'm not shedding any tears over him not starting on Sunday.  His era is over in DC, and hopefully this team does their due diligence and gets a younger QB in the stable for 2011 and beyond.

My point has been all along that Shanahan in this case and other this season has not put his players in the best position to win. How many games this year have the ******** lost due to bad coaching decisions? Let's look at it for a second:
Vs Texans - Playing a Cover 2 that leaves 1 on 1 coverage on Andre Johnson with the game on the line that led to the game tying TD - Coaching decision

Vs Rams - Going away from the run - Coaching decision

Vs Colts - Played well, just lost against a better team

Vs Lions - Pulling McNabb with the game still on the line, leading to a fumble return for a TD by Grossman putting the game out of reach - Coaching Decision

Vs Eagles - This was both on the coaches and players, however, how a team has a by-week, before a Monday night game the next week, and then goes into a game completely unprepared for a division opponent, thats definently on the coaches.

Vs Vikings - The Players lost that game, penalties killed them.

Vs Giants - In addition to the lack of an OL, we couldn't stop the run (going from a top 10 defense to the 29th ranked is a reflection on Coaching)

Vs Bucs - Players, in particular special teams lost the game.

Okay with that being shown, thats 5 losses that were adversely affected by ill coaching decisions... even if you take away the Philly and Giants loss, that's still 3 losses. Had those been wins, we'd have a record of 8-5.

So go ahead, blame McNabb... because its always the fault of the QB. Not the lack of OL, not the lack of players for McNabb to pass to. Not the disproportionate amount of pass to running plays when that is clearly the strength of our team. Because its a lot easier for us to cut a scapegoat, I mean quarterback for the majority of our ills than the coach who caused most of the lockeroom issues and losses this season.

Super Bowl Winning =/= Great
Great Coach = Coach who sustained success over a period of time with many types of players. Any coach who thinks his system works no matter how good the players within it are is not a great coach.

I see you omitted McNabb's INT vs. the Lions in the last 4 minutes of the game which led to the go-ahead score.  I also see you omitted McNabb's fumble vs. the Giants when he could have WALKED for a first down...or how about the fact that he's left INTs on the field only to be bailed out by the butter-fingers of opposing DBs...it goes on and on...we can go tit for tat all night, but we're going to have to agree to disagree....There is blame on the coaching staff and there is also blame on the QB.

Lost in all of this is Andy Reid's genius in seeing the decline in McNabb and fleecing the Skins for the picks.  I think that speaks volumes about this current situation.  No one would have envisioned him struggling in the manner that he is now.  As I said before, hindsight is 20/20 and you make that deal 10x out of 10....Shanahan is cutting his losses after realizing he made a mistake.  That being said, he (Shanahan) is going to have a SLIM margin for error going forward.  People have soured on him big-time due to his decisions, ego, and micro-managing style.  This is nothing new....some of these factors played into why he was fired in Denver, and he better look at himself in the mirror before he's out of a job before long.

Super Bowl Winning =/= GreatGreat Coach = Coach who sustained success over a period of time with many types of players. Any coach who thinks his system works no matter how good the players within it are is not a great coach.

So name your CURRENT "great" coaches...aside from BB who is "great?"

I'll agree to disagree... I look at coaching in this aspect more than McNabb in this instance because our offense has only slightly better, but not consistent enough, and our defense with the same players have dropped dramatically.

As far as the trade for McNabb, I'm in the minority in saying that Jason Campbell wasn't a horrible QB here in DC, however, constantly changing coaches, changing offensive styles, and Cerrato not drafting Offensive Lineman in any draft since Chris Samuels in 1999 led to a position where he seems to be replaceable... Not to mention he owns quite a few ******** records that people often forget...

What pisses me off in all of this, Vick WANTED to come to the ********. We were the first team he visited after getting out of jail. SMH at Zorn and Cerrato for saying no.

As far as Coaches in the league, I can't name any great head coach other than BB. How many head coaches have been with their current team more than 5 years. BB, Reid, and who else?

Shanahan is a fool for the 3-4 switch.  I tried to stay positive and defend it, but the %%!! just doesn't work

That's 100% on him.  We just don't have the right players for that type of defense.

As far as Jason Campbell, I was (and still am) a big supporter.  I was pissed when the Skins let him go, because I thought it would have been in the teams best interest to keep him around at least for another season.  They could have drafted a QB and groomed him under JC.  That would have been an ideal situation because Skins would have kept their picks and most likely they would have a similar record to what they have now.  With this whole McNabb debacle, there is a ton of uncertainty at the QB position.  We know McNabb is gone, and Grossman/Beck aren't the answer.

With Vick...Skins aren't the only team who passed on him.  He's been lights out this year, and he's making the Eagles FO look real smart by having faith in him.

Going into the 2011 draft, I think the Skins need to gut the roster even more.  Guys like Chris Cooley who have trade value should be moved for picks.  Drafting a QB is a must.  I'm assuming the Skins will be drafting around the 10-13 range, and while they need to get an O-Lineman, drafting a "franchise" QB has to be high on the list as well.  I dunno....there are a ton of problems with this team on EVERY level.  Front office, coaches, players, etc....Skins have a rich history and it really sucks to be considered one of the worst franchises in the league.
