Anyone with personal experience from the other end, as in the ones with the kid(s).

when I was a kid I used to WISH my parents got divorced. They would constantly fight, get mad at me and I was pretty much depressed more days than I was happy. Their marriage eventually got better and so did my life. I couldn't imagine them divorced now.

I guess what I'm trying to say is to work it out with the kid's mom in therapy, etc. Just pay the money and give it a real shot. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. The kid will probably wish you were divorced just as much as you do... but if the relationship is worth saving then DO IT for the KID. Absolutely 100%

Staying only for the kid is a bad idea, might be able to work out for a lil while but its only a matter of time before true feelings and resentment showKids aint dumb, they know something up even if u don't fight in front of themBetter for the kid to have to travel between two happy homes then being stuck in one miserable one.

I was the kid... biggest mistake ever. Set me up for plenty of dysfunctional relationships and skewed the view of what a family should be.

i wouldnt stay together just for the kid if this were the case.  theres going to be so many negative feelings constantly going on, you dont want your kids to feel the aftermath of every argument.

Me and my kids mom tried. And failed miserably. All the issues we had before seemingly got worse. Now we're straight, we live 6 minutes from each other and I have my daughter 4 days out of the week. Not on child support, still blowing my BM's back out whenever I feel like it. I don't know if I'm helping or not

I laugh 'cause this sounds similar to my situation.

But we're about 15 mins apart, and I'm only 22 and she is 21.....among other things. Lets just say we are beginning to realize we are doing it just for him....
