The Omote 3D figure printing photobooth, which had recently opened in the “Eye of Gyre” exhibition hall in the Harujuku district of Tokyo features a 3D scanner and 3D printer to create action figure-sized replicas of its subjects. Those who want to have their miniature figurines done must stand and remain still in one position for around fifteen to twenty minutes as the manually-operated 3D scanner records a full-body image. The raw data can then be modified and tweaked to achieve a better likeness and fine detail can be added before the 3D colour print is made.  The service offers single, double or group portraits in a variety of sizes, the largest being up to 20 centimetres. Prices start at ¥21,000 for the smallest one.

This unique service proved to be so popular, even some of the Tokyo most well-known fashion elite got their “mini-me”s done. So here are a few examples displayed at the exhibition hall right now, including the miniature figures of Nigo, Verbal and Yoon, Hiroshi Fujiwara, Takeshi Osumi (Big-O) and Yuichi Yoshii (Mr. Gentleman).

3D printers are basically the craziest things ever.

Design something on the computer....the thing makes it. This is what i expected to see when i was 10 and though about "the future"
