I heard something like Seattle is supposed to get hit with a big earthquake/tsunami sometime soon. I'm starting to believe that
6.6 magnitude earthquake hits Tokyo.

Why havent we had earthquake topics before if theres so many earthquakes that happen early?
Im guessing since that big one devasted Haiti and Chili, now every earthquake above 6.0 is getting major headlines. On top of all this 2012 talk.
If a big one hits Cali, even though its the norm, people are really going to freak.

It is estimated that there are 500,000 detectable earthquakes in the world each year.
100,000 of those can be felt, and 100 of them cause damage.

On average theres:
- 1 earthquake above 8 annually
-17 earthquakes 7 - 7.9
-134 earthquakes 6- 6.9.
and the #s just increase beyond that.
It could be the media doing its job of scaring us. then again, estimated deaths are almost above the 10 year high mark set in 2004 so maybe the media is going that "death" route. With 8 months to go, i guess death tolls can reach high #s.
2007 had 4 earthquakes above 8. where was the media then? no deaths=less media? And now with the deaths, comes reporting of EVERYTHING big or small.
If anything even with another above 8 EQ happening every 3 months, we'll be right at 2007s mark.
