Has anyone made a successful transition as a 9-5er to a graveyarder?

Yes, 11-7 third shift. I would take evening classes then go straight to work. Sleep from 9am to 3-4 pm. Take classes 6-9.

But I'm a night person.

Yup. Did the 2300-0730. I loved it. Had the whole office to myself. To me, there was a special feeling driving home at 0730 am to go and knock out while everybody else was on their way to work. This shift is not for everybody. Some people never adapt to it.

^ yup that was the best part. I worked in the office by myself. On NT or netflix all night. My job only took 4 hours to do, so I ate when I wanted, took cig breaks whenever I wanted.

Security dude watching netflix on his phone.
Valet dude napping in his booth.

It's lovely

i work from 1800 - 0600... been doing these 12hr shifts for about 7 or 8 years...

Curious, whats your social life like though? Seems difficult to spend time with friends, S/O, family with that shift.

But perfect if you live a solitaire life...

Thought about switching to a similar shift, but I don't think this would make my job easier :lol but I'd take the shift differential if I could get the days off that I want.

dudes sound like they enjoy but only older people work at my job during the night shift. id be so bored it wouldn't be worth it.

1200 - 8am

Sleep, eat, watch netflix, browse internet, live tv via comcast so u can catch nba games.... I don't do anything. No supervisors.

Go home and sleep or go to the gym then sleep.

It's like while everyone is sleeping for work you at work and when they're at work your sleeping.

Is mon - fri.

So I got Friday and Saturday nights free. All day Sunday until 12am of course.

Love it.

Opposite at mines...way more younger but a 3 night commitment isn't bearing.

I work the weekdays, Sunday-Thursday, so I'm off Friday and Saturday nights. I'm single, no kids so it's perfect for me. But the few people I work with have families and it sucks for them, plus they have day jobs.

Adobe,

Nah not currently hiring lol my hotel is more relaxed than others tho so this isn't common. Our management company is cheap and there's only 250 rooms here so I'm the night auditor, front desk supervisor and I coordinate everyone else I work with because I answer the phones.

At work right now bruh. 1145 to 745. I did it all thru undergrad too. It was rough getting used to it but definitely worth it.

I usually sleep from 830 to 130 or 200, handle the day's business then take a quick nap from 800 to 1100.

Definitely feels like I got more time to my day than most.

All of these.
I got less than an hour left of my shift. Overnight shift is preferable because you have the morning and day to enjoy yourself and socialize. Plus, I get to sleep throughout the whole shift. If a job has an overnight shift where you can sleep throughout the shift without being caught by cameras or supervisors, I highly recommend you apply for the position. I guarantee y'all, it's the easiest money you'll ever make.

It's amazing if you're single and no kids.

I used to do a 11-7:30 Sun-Thurs which was pretty much mon-fri.. like many have mentioned it was cool with no supervisor eyes watching you.. we'd play bball for like an hour on lunch cause they had a half court in the back **** was too dope.

Also worked another 6-6 12 hours 3 days a week job near the mall of america.. this was even easier.. had 3 breaks, all were a minimum of an hour.. I'd go to the mall damb near every day with coworkers.. chill, eat, play cards.

I disagree with the people saying the had the morning/day to do stuff.. me and most of my past coworkers and people I know that did this shift slept a couple hours after going home.. and damb near slept til it was time to work again. I do days now and having supervisors around kinda sucks but I still prefer feeling "normal".. cause even on my days off I was sleeping during the day and up randomly at 1-2am with nothing to do

but that was just me I'm sure some would prefer this. I got more sleep doing nights.. but I also felt way more tired

Fun while it lasted.. but now that I have a kid and in a relationship there's no way I can do it these days.

This man knows.

I get like 2-4 quality hrs. Then another 4-6 at the crib.

Black curtains and wooden shades.

Used to work the night shift front desk at a hotel. Easiest money I ever made. Playing in the computer or watching the big screen in the lobby
