...in concert that is. Well, not sure about overall cause he was so dope last year when I saw him in NY...but! this statement was true last Sunday. I was ableto catch Common in concert, with Asher Roth as the opening act, and felt that Roth gave the better performance. The way he involves/interacts with the crowdand his hype was something that came off so natural from dude..I was really surprised. Wasn't too familiar with his work, but he made me an official fanthat night and I'm on a mission to get all his material. Dude was bugging when he smoked weed on stage though and when he did a stage dive

. That wasmy first one too and I'm convinced...that $$$% is dangerous as hell

Though it isn't fair to say that I didn't enjoy Common's performance because I honestly did. I just think his song choices were disappointing.Mostly because I'm not too much of a fan of his new album. Not to mention he did this small segment where he kept saying 'Hip Hop' and then wouldrehearse a classic Hip Hop verse, but instead of it lasting 2 or 3 minutes tops, that $$$% lasted at least a full 10 minutes. He could've used those 10minutes to perform 'Naga Champa' and 'Book of Life' [

] Also, I'm not complaining but its crazy how much dude has changed over theyears. Not just his music, but his entire swag is on some other $$$%. Never would have I guess this would have happened

. Anyways, here are a fewpictures...they don't look great but give me a break, I wasn't using the best camera.

Had a great time overall. I was able to get 'Like Water For Chocolate' signed

and I always Love the vibe of a good Hip Hopconcert. I prefer it to be in a small area too, instead of some huge arena.

Anyone else ever enjoyed an opening act more than the main event?

I never said Common wasn't dope in concert...I saw him last year with NERD [which by the way are one of the best performers I've seen] and he was greatthen. I guess my real beef was the material he chose to perform. But then again, it is the UMC concert so I should have known what I was getting myself into.And yes, he did breakdance which was pretty dope.

I actually went to the Com/Ash Show in New Haven, CT. Asher was a great performer, but it just wasn't equal to Common's. I don't know how todescribe it but Common was just better, he had more material and knows how to a classic hip hop show. Asher just gets everybody really hype and it was more ofa rock vibe.
