Accounting internship interview...need help

So I have two interviews this week with PWC and Deloitte for a summer internship.
PWC is for an Assurance position and Deloitte is for an Audit position.
I'm feeling kinda nervous cause im not sure what questions they are going to ask and what I should talk about.
Has anybody interviewed with them before and can provide some tips.

only tip i have is that you will be asked directly/indirectly, WHY ACCOUNTING??? you need a good 3-5 minute story and not be a dousche and your in

straight behavioral interviews... they stress teamwork, so make sure you have a good teamwork answer ready

i was in your shoes about 3 years ago. you'll more than likely be interviewed by a partner or senior manager. Just relax, be yourself, don't expectthem to ask you any technical accounting questions, they want to know more about your attitude, aspirations, soft skills, abiity to work w/ multiple teams,agility, etc.

Another way to kill time while limiting the amount of time you speak is to ask them questions, get them talking, partners love to talk abouttheir careers and before you know it the interview will be over

Please God, have a list of questions pertaining to Assurance/Audit...the firm...just have questions!

I hate giving interviews and I'm like "do you have any (more) questions for me?"...and it's dead silence...not a good look

Being that you interview people, what are the things that you look for in a candidate?

It depends but typically -

If I'm interviewing you for a staff/intern position I want to know

1) How you can to choosing my firm
2) What you've done to show you can make decisions under pressure
2b) If not pressure, maybe you've done something to make someone see your point that they did not typically see
3) Favorite classes and why
4) Why they are looking to pursue accounting as a profession
5) What you essentially bring to the table

I'm not a hardass interviewer, typically....unless there's awkward and too much silience.

I'd say do your best to make it a dialog/conversation. Save your list of questions to the end. Don't talk to me like we're going to kick it,it's a place of business, we want to make $ not be BFF's.

i work for one of those firms you mentioned and like others have mentioned, just get ready for mostly behavioral questions. why you want to do assurance/auditand talk about some examples of group/team experiences questions. honestly not sure why you are interested in assurance/audit right now. no offense to anyone,but this is the closest thing to modern day indentured servants. smh.

what kind of degree do you have and what are the salaries looking like for these two jobs??
are they entry level positions or you already have accounting experience?

Yeah audit/assurance/attestation for the Big 4 sounds like a dream (sarcasm)....probably pretty close to www.stuffaccountantslike.com

The probability of getting stuck auditing ONE AREA of the engagement as a intern/staff are higher than at mid-size or smaller firms.
We allow our staff/interns to get audit/tax work without having to choose one or the other (at least right out of the gate). I think you get a better feel forthe big picture by doing the whole process yourself.

How did you learn about these internships for next summer?? I am very interested in these Internships as I will be getting an accounting minor and CPA.

- Be prepared for behavioral questions like previous posters have mentioned

- Make sure you ask questions, asking no questions at all is not good (I had about a list of 8-10 questions related to getting to know my interviewer'sprevious experience(s) in public accounting, getting to know more about the firm, etc. when I was recruiting)

- Make sure you give your answers right away. From what I know (in my area), the Big 4 wants those answers to be relatively quick

- Answer questions about yourself confidently, but don't sound cocky

I just got back from mine. These guys are heavy into questions about how you deal with pressure, deadlines, and having to juggle multiple assignments at once.Also, they're big on teamwork so be prepared to answer stuff like how you perform in teams and how you've dealt with someone you really don't getalong with but have to work with them or how someone on the team wasn't doing their part and how you approached them about it.

Isn't audit and assurance the same thing?

I have a pre-screening job interview on Tuesday for a Bay Area local accounting firm. There's gonna be 2 guys busting my balls *pause*

It really depends on the company you work for. But all four Big 4 firms will work you to death during the busy season. Tax and consulting aredifferent in regards to your day to day work, but you will work long hours just like audit. However, you do get paid more in consulting and a little more intax. Just remember what you are doing in audit in comparison to other two. One is to check up on a client, while the other two is to help the client...

What about case interviews any help with that? What books do you recommend? I heard Case and Point is a good one.

The career center at my school provided case study interview preparation through vault.com. Not sure if they still use that, but I thought it wasokay. Best to check your local career center for free resources if you don't feel like paying for books.
