It's not that we hate each other.  It's that the differences are blatantly obvious to us.  So when other people talk about our cultures, we expect them to know the difference.

But like I said, I personally see the rest of the world as White/Latin/Black.  If you don't specifically name a Country for me, i'm just gonna file you by color for future references.

  So I know I can't be upset when someone calls me Japanese.

I can tell the differences cause I have a lot of interaction with asian people, they take a lot of pride in their respective culture. If someone called me Kenyan it would be understandably upset so I understand why an Chinese would be upset if they were referred to as Korean. A lot of it is just ignorance, most people aren't experts in cultural sensitivity.....especially if you weren't raised in a  diverse environment.
