Yeah I was lucky and able to get the white ones too from Consortium in Europe on Thursday. I planned to sell but they're growing on me the more I see of them. But yeah, I'm surprised at the prices they're going for

I believe it's due to the lighting. Here are my Japans and under a warm light, it looks to be maroonish but under fluorescent lighting, they show their true grey colors

I would suggest trying to wear quarter socks so it makes your ankle area thicker... maybe that will help

I too went 0.5 down on the Grey/White City Socks, they fit perfectly, and the ankle gap isn't bad at all. Also shipped from Adidas.ca
