Adobe Flash video slowdown?

I use firefox and sometimes for seemingly no reason videos will slow down becoming choppy then turning into slideshows. I dont have any major programs running that are causing this. I think this laptop is from '07 multi core with it has 4gb of ram. Old hardware but it dont see why that would be the cause it the video bogging down. Especially when if im watching an hd .mkv video I never experience this. Only when im watching video on the internet like youtube.

Is this an issue with flash?

Yes, it's an outdated, bloated program used to run video online. There's a good reason why Apple and Google stopped supporting it on their mobile platforms. In addition to Flash, the likely culprit is also a combination of having an older wireless-G card on your laptop combined with 6 year old hardware. A multicore processor doesn't really matter since the program you're running only uses one of those cores.
