Anyone ever tried this? I'm actually trying to start air alert program this summer, its a leg work out program that "suppose" to give you hops. I'm not sure if its worth it. Anyone with suggestions.

Air Alert works well, but if you OD it or don't have sufficiently strong joints/strength then you could potentially damage your body.

The best program available is Vertical Mastery. I don't have the link but you can look it up.

I don't usually promote programs but I am an extremely huge fan of this one. I hate spending cash so I did plenty of research and I made sure I bought the right product. First off, the creator Jack Woodrup is always available 24/7. You can email him and he'll hit you up on anything whether it's how to use the program or what to do if you sprained your ankle. He'll also send you periodical emails to the vertical jumping articles on his site.

Vertical Mastery is a customized program unlike the cookie-cutter ones like Air Alert. Air Alert and other ones like that have a one-size fits all program, not the best when you're trying to maximize gains. Vertical Mastery actually finds what you are lacking in will help you improve it.

Once again, I'm not a promoter. But VM is the real deal. I went from having an 18 inch vertical to having a 33inch vert off 2 feet.

If you don't believe me, just browse around the boards. I was skeptical but I bought it and never looked back. Of course, Air Alert can be found for free so you can try that out first too.

Vertical mastery? I've never heard of it. I too am a nerd. Before I got fat, I was literally dunking off a pure vert (no drop step, just stand underneath and go straight up) at 6'0 and most nba kats aren't doing that.

My personal favs were Jump for Sts ( www.jumpforsts.com heavily relies on box jumps), MAd Bounce x2 (still the most variety of any program I've seen and has moves in it I still never saw anywhere else), and Scott's Creations which you can probably google and find free. It is 3x a week, about 60 minutes of HARD work.

What Air Alert failed in, and they somewhat noticed it when they released 3, is it's WAY too many jumps and leaves you prone to overtraining injuries like tendinitis, not to mention reaches a point where you're training slow and not at full capacity so it's more endurance then fast twitch.

I did Air Alert in Junior year of HS. I'm now just finishing my 2nd year in college. The program made me jump alot higher after a couple weeks but after that it went downhill. I slightly tore my ACL trying to jump from the freethrow line (yes my hops were insane)...It is really hard on your knees and to this day my knees still need rehab that I have yet to start. My advice is to only do the exercises that don't put strain on your knees.

i did AA3 back in the day, like in 9th-10th grade. it worked, but my knees are still fcked up to this day.

honestly, if i could go back i would just run hills and squat, better on your joints and will work you out more overall.

Variations of squats and deadlifts are you'll be good to go. Plyometrics works too but I've had better experiences/gain with weights.

Thank God I didn't do Air Alert in high school. I would have shot knees like you guys! Thanks for killing that ambition pot.

from a couple of magazine reads, seems like Jump rope, deadlift, squat, and box jumps are the key workouts
anyone have any idea of how many sets/reps should be done?
my coach has us squat and power cleans 2 times a week 3 sets of 8 , since my freshman year and i see no results

I had around a 26 inch vertical, I did it and gained 4 inches in 12 weeks and quit since i didnt see significant results (its a 16 week process). I wouldnt recommend it. I put in way too much work to only gain 4 inches and the program literally KILLS YOU. I did everything right too, if you dont do it right you'll most likely get hurt.

The only thing that I got noticeably better in (according to people I ball with) is that I jump alot faster now and my 2nd jump is faster/higher than anyone else i know.

I'm white if that matters, and i have a feeling it does haha
