Recent 85s have better materials and craftsmanship than OG highs.

I hate to say it but the 2017 looks better. I know I'm gonna get these on discount tho so it is what it is.

I really need to get rid of the reimagineds now I'm never gonna run through all these royals.

Those Reimagined Royals were so universally hated.. no idea what they were thinking releasing those.

You don't think 2025 85 Breds look closer to the OG than recent OG Highs?

Completely disagree there, even the tooling is more accurate.

I will say that high end reps seem to actually get closer to the actual 1985 AJ 1 Highs but those are still reps/fakes and often more expensive than the aforementioned legit retros lol

Yeah the toe box could be better and the breds had that weird collar issue, but outside of that? Night and day difference.

most of which are from the 2015-16 years

I don’t feel like the 85s are just close to the og like everyone else does tho

I agree that 85’s aren’t as comfy, and I feel it’s a gimmick, it’s similar to 85 but it ain’t that. It’s close but not that close. The heel on the 85 Breds ain’t like that on the actual OG pairs.
Ppl just be reaching, Nike used that BS as a gimmick. If Nike would bring 85’s out that aren’t limited they would sit like most retros are doing these days.

the only thing I’ll really say bout the 85s is the colors of the shoe pop more off the stiffer leather so if gives it a elevated look, that’s it really especially on black based pairs

Wrong. There's literally side by side pictures or even a video somewhere in this thread.

*This issue is, is that Nike replicated a pair from a particular factory.....a pair that was not the most available/seen everywhere when people think of Jordan 1's. The pair they modeled the Black/Reds after had the lower/slanted collar.

Silly on Nike's end to use that particular pair but it is what it is and was def accurate to THAT pair from that factory.

Hard to tell which version's shade of royal blue is closer to the original version.

I’ve never had the OGs in hand but I’d say the 2026 look’s closer to the to the royal shade we want the 17s almost look like a lighter “marina blue”

Exactly you can’t tell a brand like Nike and JB you want to it further way from the OG because they’ll take that and run with it I don’t think some of members in this thread understand that like you said before you know it we getting OG Jordan 1s In the 2009 bred 1 mid form with the jumpman on the tongue because they’ll take realize they can cut corners

The ‘17 Royal is a decent retro all things considered, I still have my 2nd pair DS so I’ll grab the ‘26 at some point for below retail.

Everything Nike does is a gimmick, but I notice the differences, the leather is thicker and takes longer to break in, so yeah they probably are less comfortable for most... don't really bother me. I will say it makes a HUGE difference in the lows, to the point where I honestly have no interest in low OGs at all anymore.

I would def rather these were 85s

Now is actually a great time to trade down some 85s, the Georgetowns are a great classic colorway and they are going for or under retail I believe. Also the Metallic Reds are nice.

ATP I’d just take a regular Bred 1 retro. My favorite outta all of em so far is the Georgetown 85, I’ve worn that about 5 times and it’s still stiff. The Bred pair is my least favorite.

Yeah it’s something about the toe box for me and the stiffness. For the breds the slant definitely kills it for me on the heel. That **** looks silly. Then the tongue is also weird. Idk. Just my opinion. I’m cool with these royals. The blue looks better than the 2016 one.
