I don’t hate these at all but they aren’t particularly exciting
I kinda like the frunions but they’re lazy and if this is what’s coming to market, they’re a bit underwhelming. Midsole is lame but it’s been said a thousand times.
They just feel like fragments with most of the Union touches having been added but not being correctly implemented. The collar being from the neutral grey like one of the concepts would make the sneaker more ‘Uniony’ and the original frags would remain a bit more unique.
Not to be too pedantic about it, but if we’re going by the original (fantastical) Union concept of two different sneakers being stitched together, then the shoe we have here doesn’t make complete sense. Instead of having a collar and tongue from a different shoe, we just get a different top half of the the tongue with some stitching that doesn’t offer much of a contrast like the blue and yellow stitching on the black toes and the storm blues.
I’m sure I’ll still try to cop but the concept was simply better imo. The concept could be accused of being lazy as it’s just the black toe with blue instead of red, but it’s simple and works very well - like the design ethos of the OG frags in 2014.
Still, the OG frags are beautiful and I understand why they wanted the sexy shade of blue on both the collar and heel rather than just the heel. But why do what they did to the midsole?!

They could've at least made the outsole black instead of white.
That would've made it different enough from the original Fragment 1, but still kept the "simple" aesthetic that Fragment collabs have. And it would've looked much better than the white on white that we see in these supposed leaked pics.

Looks a little better here. Maybe white laces would look better to go with the white on white midsole/outsole.

Honestly, there's no reason for a Union x Frag Jordan 1 to exist. They were kinda cool individually but come off desperate together.
