Hype stemming from resell leads to brand awareness/marketing (and engagement) which in turn leads to people collecting and building up the culture.

In theory this is dope and I'm always down for it, but history shows that there will always be those that want things by any means and will justify it however. Even if it means the system stays the same, or things become worse, they don't care as long as they get theirs.
Harp this too much and watch the "you gotta pay to play" folks start coming out the woodworks lol

if you’re a smart buyer, you wouldn’t even be thinking about buying resale on the day of release date. People panic buy because of fomo which can also make you have fomo yourself lol. By looking at the rising prices you start to think you need to act now rather than wait for the price dip.

These would have gone for $500+ during that era, if not more but the model is more or less dead at this point so this release was an aberration (and current resale STILL isn’t that crazy, relatively).
