also i think the xix was double stacked zoom aswell.

also does anyone know when nike started putting air in both the heel and forefoot? was it the vi or vii?

First ones with heel and forefoot were IIIs. The 9s had forefoot tensile air which is the precursor to zoom. Not sure about the vii's. Back in the day jordans used to come with a little pamphlet that had a visual breakdown of the shoe from the upper insole air units and outsole. The 12s had full length zoom. But zoom air from 1997 is not the same as now

Ips stands for independent podular suspension which had their debut on the xx. Basically phylon pillars at different pressure or impact points along the bottom of the shoe. U might be able to find the review o the xxs in $ole collector which goes into great detail

could have sworn the original product description on the 9s said tensile air in the forefoot.

i doubt it, cuz 10's had full-length encapsulated air. if 9's had tensil air, 10's would've had it too. otherwise it'd be a step back technology wise (considering it was a new tech at the time).

i'll believe it if i see the product description; but you can see from the dissect pic's that forefoot is obviously encapsulated air, not tensil.

Okay let me get something straight, do the 18s and 19s have double zoom only in the heel and forefoot? Or just the heel?

Unless one of them had full-length double-zoom... Does such a shoe even exist?

Why would JB go from Full Zoom with the 12s to just heel and forefoot zoom in later shoes?

For the shoes with zoom only in the heel and forefoot, what cushioning is used in between (if any)?

On another note, I think the shoes with IPS would have been better off if each individual IPS pod was reinforced with zoom or Nike Air.

To anyone that can elaborate on any one of these questions, thanks!

I believe the advantage the blow-molded air unit had over the original air unit is the former allows for a more specialized(lower profile, sculpted, comprehensive etc) bag...

we all know JB is a BIGGG moron. but when you make a retro of a shoe you dont change the technology in the shoe. isnt that what help makes the shoe? JB might change the color, materials etc. But i dont think they would change the technology. they SHOULD know better then that. I work at finishline and we had a meeting with a Nike representative and she said AJVII was the 1st jordan model to have Zoom Air instead of Nike Air, thats why its so lightweight. So if the OG had Zoom Air; the Retros will have Zoom Air inside the midsole. Not a Nike Air.

In 1992 the only footwear utilizing Zm Air(Tensile Air at the time(launched Q1 1990?)) was releasing under the Cole-Haan name.

I've personally dissected a pair of OG cardinals; the AJ XII was the first Air Jordan w/Zm Air.

I'd expect you to know for sure more than i would, but i thought they were all zoom, and they put the price up because..... well they're greedy.

Zoom Air is like

on my feet. The Nike Rep said Zm Air gives you 80% back kinetic energy instead of 40% with Nike Air. And I just noticed that when I played basketball in my DMP's I didnt get tired as fast Vs. a jordan with Nike Air. Zm Airrrrrrrrrr
