Air jordan VIII Playoffs -Sep 30th - Updated:First official look!!

The annoying thing is when one of your feet is a quarter or half size bigger than the other. I only ever have a cramped pinky toe on my right foot. Pretty sure my left foot is my normal size 11 and right foot 11.5
This problem you mentioned I had most on the 4's. With 8's I just go up half a size for more toe room in the front.

I got hit with the childhood feels when I opened the box tonight. Had to bust out my copy. Remembered my little brother got these but they didn’t have my size. My first pair besides baby 1’s ended up being the Chicago IX’s. So I’ve always wanted a proper retro and these are about as much as I could ask for.

I opened this book as a Christmas present in 1993. One the first things I did was shove this pic in moms face basically begging her to get them for me. I ended up with Aquas instead a few months later. I was just as happy, but these were my first pick for sure at the time.

Yea 4’s run small. I always go up half a size when buying 4’s.
I sold my 2020 Fire Red 4s because of how tight they were at the pinky toe area. Really miss them though as they were my first pair of OG colorway 4s so I guess I'll be sizing up when I find a good pair for a decent price. I just hope going from a size 13 to 14 won't be super noticeable.

My problem is that I've got very wide feet and my right foot is a 9 and my left foot is a 9.5 wider. So because of that weird size difference I've got to go 9 in most sneakers and suffer tightness on my left toe because a 9.5 will cause my right foot to slip out unless it's a tight ankle or has a strap. I can sometimes do 9.5 if the shoe runs tight or small. But also because of my Flintstone feet I can't fit in all sneakers. Jordans 1 and 4 I cannot wear as I tried on a full-size up and they still killed me. I have to skip many hot releases that people wear which sucks but the plus side is I save money and don't feel guilty lol.

That book was like porn for us youngins on Christmas Day 93. And this shoe is all over it. I love that in this shot you can see the texture on the toe box. Feel like they came pretty close with the retro.

What I don't get is why do they only put them in certain Jordan models? I mean 5, 6's and 8's are super heavy in the first place that prob just makes em even heavier.
The tech specs was different inside the shoes. Every material was soft. The air sole unit was huge, the midsole was soft, outsole was also soft. The board last was also different. I think it was thicker than the retro, but could absorb shock.
Air Jordan 10 also had a board last. So maybe the 9 has it. It was the same material than a cork.
After that, every pair had a shank plate to replace the board last.

While I can’t directly comment on huarache differences between 2023 playoffs and 2015 being that I sold my aquas as well, I can definitely confirm that the guts of the playoffs is where they skimped most. Compared to my 03 bugs and my 1993 og, the 2023 seemingly have almost no internal huarache bootie whatsoever, at least when it comes to function. The 03 and 93 the huarache sleeve hugged the entire foot and ankle area, felt great!

As far as your concerns with the heavier weight of the 2023, wouldn’t heavier typically mean better? Usually when you think crappy retro you think less raw material and less padding throughout… I can say the original is the heaviest of all my 8s, followed by 03, followed by 2023. This is also the identical standings for quality. Hope this helps!

Ultimately at the end of the day these retros are tributes of something and I’m happy to have a new pair I can wear around and get shades of nostalgia, even if they aren’t absolutely perfect.

Life’s short, enjoy the retro while you’re here. Cheers man.
Have you got a photo of your OG on a scale to show me the proof?
