There was no vectoring done. I played around with the original images contrast settings and came up with something close to what you see on the canvas. The final piece has some tweaks to the shading than what was on the image but I think it worked out pretty okay.

-yeah apparently my gf thinks photography is not art. and said to me "Your pictures are not art"
-I think art is whatever you want it to be, being creative to make an image of some sort to express feelings, thoughts, or nothing (just cause it looks cool). Maybe someone can help me out here. Music, is it art? Rap music? I know a lot of people will say its not, and a lot of people will say it is, but I think it is a form of art even though all they talk about is money.
I personally feel that art is anything that a person creates in order to effectively convey a message. This might not be as romantic a definitionas people are use to hearing. Regardless of medium or subject matter, as long as it's something original that can affect another person's senses in away, then it's art.
Photography can be a form of art but not all photographs are considered art, you know? Like, take for instance, Ansel Adams landscape photographs would beconsidered art by almost everybody but a picture some kid takes of his new Jordan's he just copped would probably not be.
Music can of course be considered another type of art. Rap is kind of a difficult genre to define though because I seriously don't think every rapper is amusical artist. That's not to say there aren't some that are. Some of the more recognizable people like Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem, etc. The ones that puttheir heart and soul into their lyrics. I don't think you could debate whether that is art or not. On the other hand, you got these kids like Soulja Boyand Young Berg ("I'm an artist sir") and judging by their catalog of work, I wouldn't say they were.
The thing about art is, people are going to have opinions one way or another so I wouldn't worry myself with what others have to say. Just take thecompliments with the criticisms and keep working on your craft.
