Hey guys,

toying around with the idea of starting a blog based on insights from the field I work in (marketing/media/advertising).

In general, do you think it's a better idea to make the blog address my own name (and therefore be personally branding myself), or have a more non-personal name (like market insights or consumer behavior or something like that), which might make it seem more professional?

Have you found one approach (business vs personal/business mix content) that has helped you in any professional capacity?

Thanks for the input.

I rarely see blogs self-titled. Seth Godin and Greg Mankiw are the only ones in my reader. Just from that, I'd say go non-personal. Jeck if you re really confident, I would say nom de plume.Edit: Mark Cuban and Roger Ebert are self-titled too. Non-personal is the way to go.

It hurts most professionals.

I'd start out with a non-personal name until you get lots of acknowledgement.
