Amazon strike vol. Consumerism

My union is down there. Glad to see them doing something I guess.

Honestly, this strike is soft though, 6 hour strike is wack. If they were really about it they’d stop working until they voted the union in and got what they wanted.

I’m sure there are plenty of scabs working still.

I hope they negotiate some combination of better pay and benefits. They work really hard. I'd hate to have a grip of overtired, overworked, underpaid, disgruntled van drivers whipping around. I have a warehouse near me and those dudes are already a little reckless with it. And I can understand why. If they under perform, they're probably very replaceable.

I don't know what the answer to consumerism is when culture makes the acquisition of things a clout commodity

How do you change peoples perspective of what is "cool"

Mfers need to think for themselves or not keep up with the Jones’s. If not, deal with it

Some people have no clue how ruthless Amazon is. Especially their shipping and logistics arm.

I think it's damn near impossible at this point. I don't see it changing in our lifetime. Those minimalist dudes seemed like they were on the right track, although it was at the complete opposite end of the spectrum. There needs to be some type of happy medium.

"Likes," possessions, "respect", materialism in general....all that stuff seems like it's more important than family, community, charity, learning, etc.

I think more and more people are learning how bad amazon is but what’s a better alternative for us to use.

we should all just live on hippie communes that are self sustaining

As a society I feel we are imbalanced.

As long as we get what we want with maximum satisfaction and minimizing risk we are conditioned to be happy.

Stop blaming the consumers.

Blame the richest dude in the world who can’t cough up some decent pay and benefits for his employees.

Maybe they could actually staff the place if conditions weren’t terrible and they could slow down a little bit.

Unions are gonna come back hard, people are getting tired of it. Working 60 hours a week and being broke.

Yeah, like I said before it wasn’t us customers who demanded and forced amazon for 1 and 2 day shipping. They offered it and pressure their workers to get it done. Doesn’t amazon get tax exemptions? So they save millions but still don’t wanna improve wages and conditions.

Nothing wrong with amazon in theory. It’s the douche bag running it...

Even with 2 day shipping and all that. You could still do that and not treat your employees like garbage.

eBay, some of the sellers actual websites. There are options out there.

Dude got all the money in the world, and he wont use half of it. Just pay your employees better, it literally wont hurt his pockets. This the simplistic way of seeing things but hey man...

Dude leaves his wife for some plastic troll. He best be prepared to split that in half too. :smh::smh::smh::smh:

People got to stop picking and choosing what they're standing up for.

If you against Amazon, then you best be against Nike, Adidas and all the companies who take advantage of cheap labor.
I wish everyone gets paid more but I'm not sitting here on my high horse judging others for their purchasing decisions.

It's the same mentality from people who are disgusted at hunting but has no problem buying meat from grocery stores.
Be consistent with your damn social justice.

It certainly has the same readings of the tipping issue pushing the burden on the customer to pay a livable wage via tips instead of pressuring the owners to do right by their employees

Ebay is too slow for me nowadays
Same Day is an amazing luxury

I really don't see how anyone could need more than like 5 million dollars
