I know I'm not the only one that sees the ugly racial undertones of how this word is being used on NT of late.  Every other day we see a new thread saying something like "Black man kills white woman" or "black girls in street fight".  Do you guys only get your news from WSHH?  If NT general was a news station then the only news would be how violent and crazy black people are.  But you guys can post whatever you want my only beef is with the word "animals". It seems like every single WSHH video that gets posted or even controversial article involving a person of color the word "animals" gets posted.  Don't tell me this isn't about race but the nature of the videos.  I'm honestly wondering why this has been tolerated and never addressed?

Other races get called psychos, trash, sickos, etc but for some reason they keep their human label? Hmmmm......

It's got to the point where the word "animals" has almost evolved and used in a sarcastic way which is funny.  But that in itself proves the word came from an ugly origin.  You can call me the boy that called racism or you can't look at the proof...

It's trolling, period. I'm sick of it and as far as I'm concerned it's grounds for a warning/suspension.

so if a white person or a person of any race commits a henious crime, we can't call them an animal even though that's what they were acting like? i just wanna make sure were on the same page here.

Normally I like to try and fight for posting rights, but I have to agree with you. These Worldstar videos are terrible, disgusting and outright ignorant.

if a white person or a person of any race commits a henious crime, we can't call them an animal even though that's what they were acting like?
This falls into the same category as when people claim they should be allowed to call other NikeTalk members idiots because "it's true."  That's not an excuse for any rule violation, much less bigotry.
What leads someone to characterize others as "animals" is often shaded by prejudice.  The problem has become cyclical, with many people now deliberately saying it because they know it to be a source of offense/irritation.  (e.g. Someone used "animals" to refer to a group they identify with/care about, so they're going to use it in reference to another group as a measure of "revenge.")  That ends now.

Did it ever occur to you that threatening a ddos temper tantrum over anything and everything you don't like is, itself, an attempt at censorship?
We have every right to run a forum founded on principles of respect.  That's what we're doing.  If you can't get with that, go patronize one of the billion other forums on the Internet.  No one's forcing you to be here or violating your rights in any way.

The word isn't just used in a context to offend any specific group, it's widely used in reference to a bunch.
Why are you granting legitimacy to its "troll" usage?  The definition has only been "broadened" by people using it as a gimmick for effect.
All of your examples are recent and follow the same trend.  It's used because it gets a response and it gets a response because it's an extremely loaded term.  People are making a "joke" out of race baiting and I don't see that as a positive for our community.

I feel like you may have missed this part.

So in a way, you're wrong. At some point everyone here "loses their human label." It isn't targeted at one group, however if you want to argue that the term is extremely overused here you'd be spot on.

If there's anybody that's been on this site for years and has legitimate gripe against the mods/admins, it's me...
...but even outside of that, y'all mutha #$$! outta pocket with all this "animal" ##!$ in every ethnic thread - you wouldn't say it in my face, so don't say it over a keyboard.

Alot of those were used after the word caught on and became funny to post in every thread.  Maybe NT is too young to really understand where certain words and phrases come from.  It's not that other people don't act like "animals" .   It's that it's become "cool" to say it and direct it mainly at blacks which is a slippery slope.  Same way the kitchen jokes for women were played out.

at the end of the day, meth is the one who has a ban, warn, and suspend button on this niketalk account so i'll follow the no animal rule but i disagree with it.

if the posts were to say "those black animals" or "those white animals", "those female animals" or "those ****** animals" i could see the outrage since it's referring to a specific race, gender, or orientation

is the word overused? yes, but in every thread it was used the word was deserved when looking at the actions of the video or articles that were posted in the thread.

maybe im looking at it differently because i just see it as a word. the other day i was at subway eating and my friend was chewing and eating his sandwich like he never saw food before so i jokingly called him an animal. there was no hurt feelings.

someone posted something on facebook about the knicks and i jokingly referred to the entire team not named melo or amare as animals, and the dude who is a knick fan thought it was funny.

i see it as just a word, you can argue it's being overused but most of the time when it's posted on here it's funny.
