I'm not to big into anime so I don't know about many. I'm looking for some similar to Afro Samurai and or Ninja Scrolls.
any suggestions?

but you really need to expand the types of anime you watch.

Some of the best animes arent blood and gore oriented like Afro Samurai and such

Then roll with Bleach.

If you want to switch it up, go with Death Note. It's a more mature themed Anime, a lot of college kids really enjoy it.
