so my buddy said hell give me his 96 firebird, but it needs a completely new engine.   how much would i be lookin to spend on an engine swap?

Depends on what kind of engine you want to put in it. You're probably gonna be looking around $1,500

If you do swap, make sure its a V8 a 350 crate motor or LT1 would do, an LS1 would work if you can find one for cheap too

its all depends where you go ... so places may have a deal with installation for around 2500-5k

i dont know too much of how it works but thats a rough idea...

you should look into your local junk yard or a pick-a-part and see if you get engine from there probably be way cheaper you'll just gotta install yourself or pay for it to get install from some where...
