Whats up Niketalk, So summer is creeping up and I am currently trying to look for a job and was wondering if any of you guys have any suggestions as to what kind of job i could take while balancing summer classes. I'm thinking about doing pizza delivery or something in fast food/retail but don't know if it is difficult getting a job with no work experience in retail. I have worked but it is all manual labor outdoorsy stuff so i am unsure if i would be able to get a job with no retail experience. thanks

You don't need any experience in retail. I'd just apply to as many spots as possible, and take what opportunity that's best.

Retail jobs hire people with no experience all the the you'll be good.

Target. They are always hiring for the summer. That's what I did when I was 17.

I tried going online to see if the nearest one was hiring but no success.

Not sure what level if school you are in, but maybe try to get a job or shadow in the area you think you'll want to go into in the future.

I'm about to enter my second year at community college in the fall and i'll probably do that then just trying to make some money and save as much as i can during the summer.

I couldn't agree more.

I wasted so many summers in undergrad. If I can go back, I would've interned my butt off, even in a field that didn't correlate to my major but may be interested in.

Son do an internship yo
I'm so serious
You wanna get a job at target? For what? So u can make 7.15 an hour and make it out the summer with about $1100 extra dollars?

Get an internship in your field of study...9/10 it may be unpaid, but trust me, it'll be worth it in the long run. You can turn that internship into a full time career making more money than you can imagine.

Think about long term, not that short term ****
$1100 in one summer is petty my *****. That's chump change. You prolly gonna end up spending that on dumb **** anyways.

Get an internship god

Agreed on the internship advice.

I just got laid off and I'm also considering a summer internship. I only wish I started interning in freshman year of college.

Well if you are looking for a summer job youre prob better off looking into working at some summer camps at your local schools/parks

should be easy to get those kind of gigs if you can talk to people

if you want to work retail/food service dont tell them you are only looking for a summer job

(they dont want to waste their time hiring/training a new guy only for him to quit in a few months)

and for those who suggested internships most of them are just BS looking for slave labor

a real internship should be able to afford to pay you

i worked through numerous jobs after HS while going to college

went from making minimum wage to around 30-40k in a year or two

that experience taught me the scam that is the job market the hardest work you will ever do will pay you the least

and the easiest work will pay you the most and to get to that part you have to use some connections and hustle your way through

see if you know anyone who works/owns a restaurant or retail spot  get them to vouch for you so you have some experience

and apply everywhere check craigslist too etc

i went to a lot of places and malls and everystore said the same thing when asking if they were hiring (check online)

itll legit take like 1-4 weeks from when you apply to when you start working so get it done ahead of time and get out there

(the job market really is tough even for entry level jobs)
