Anybody ever work for boeing?

Just copped a job there
anybody have any stories or things i should know?

Very good company to work for. I'm here in Washington so it's a huge part of the economy around here. They are known to go on quite a few strikes and as of now they have mandatory OT (working weekends). Started out voluntary, but no one volunteered so now they all have to work.

Great company though with all the benefits you'd want.

It also all depends on the person. Boeing is a huge company so the benefits and whatnot will be great. But the work could possibly be a different story. I just started at Fortune 500 company that manufactures heavy diesel trucks. Going into it, I expected to be able to do a lot of product development since it was a new projects position. But since its so big, a lot of the work is divided between a large group of people. You dont really get to do various things. They usually assign you to a certain position based on your skills to do a certain task over and over again. You basically become a specialist at that task. If you want the freedom to be able to do a lot of different things, you are better off going to a smaller company. Nonetheless, I love it there. They pay good, treat you good, and a lot of perks too. It also helps that the facility shuts down for 2 weeks once a year. Paid 2 weeks ftw. I work in the engineering department if it helps, which 75% of the people there are engineers or have some sort of engineering background

my sister use to work there a couple months ago. she couldnt tell us what she did, so as far as inside information idk what to tell you.

i grew up a Boeing kid - Mom's been there for 35+ years now as a composite engineer. I've also had a few friends join the engineering teams as well: stress testers, aerodynamics dept, etc. Only knock I've heard on the company is that since it's a mature work force, they are not as dynamic and/or embracing of new ideas; very process heavy.
I think it more so matters what you're actual job is. If you're an aerospace engineer wanting to stay in Seattle, yeah, Boeing is a great fit. If you're a software engineer, for instance, there's better local employers

my dads friend works there hooked us up with a bunch of Boeing shirts and a Boeing airplane toy model
other than that i dont know much else
