No, I'm not talking about some pathetic girlproblemthread on here asking for real-time advice on how to appear as if you've ever felt a woman's warmth before while on a date, I'm talking about a real life actual book....well, an e-book. Same thing.

Anyway, I'm working on one right now, a self-help humor book called "Fresh, Uncensored, Critical Knowledge for Your Life" *available 11.7.11

* --as well as an alternate, acronym based title--and wanted to know if anybody had any suggestions on how to promote it (or even any contributions about love, work, or social networking for it...I could use all the material I can get haha) or where to go and what to do once I finally get it right...which should be soon.

So? Anybody familiar? I know NT can help a brotha out...you know, for old times' sake.

uhhh when i was in high school, i spent 2 weeks in Italy and wrote a 10-page mini-book covering my adventures.

i called it a 'A Hispanic Man in Rome' and it got rave reviews from my peers.

i probably should've kept it; i had talent for writing.

I've always wanted to, maybe I'll get around to it one day. I like the title!

sell it at seven-eleven's across the country...people are gonna be like "you heard of that book dropping on 7-11 AT seven-elevens"

Yo, seriously...if you have a talent for writing, use that +@$%. Get back into it, it's therapeutic for those who can do it...

Publish it electronically before doing a hard copy. See how it does on Kindle, Nook, etc. It's cheaper and you'll more of the money from sales.

Yeah that's how I was thinking about doing it...Amazon has a service where they'll put individual copies into print as they're requested, so I def think I'm gonna let them handle all the inventory. What am I looking at as far as costs to put it out? How do I make sure people besides my momma buy it? (Especially since I don't really want her reading it haha)

Revise it at least 3 times and have it read by a few different demographics before publishing.

Well, I share a lot of the material from it on the Twitter for it (can't really say the name), just to give people an idea for the subject matter...people seem to like that, does that count?

Oh, and I'm revising it...I'm revising the %#%% out of it...I'm sick of looking at it

You probably know the feeling.

I know just to get published period, all you have to do is make the Word doc (or whatever) into a .PDF (they have converters you can Google up) and publish it through Amazon's Kindle, Smashwords or other self-pub services. As far as promotion and all that, that's what I'm asking too, sorry

I actually Googled that...damn, I had no idea! Book drops 11.7.11 (and is not a novel), but it was just a coincidence...definitely working that into my promos now, thx man!

Hmm...maybe I can crank out another during the month too...

I wrote a book.

http://www.amazon.com/col...yle-Kostic/dp/0615362303

I self published it through Amazon's self publishing service called "Createspace." It has been really well received. I have been invited to radio shows and had local newspapers have written about it. The book actually has been used in 3 high school curriculum's because of the different writing techniques I use (double entendre being the main one). One of the schools administrators liked my book so much that they asked to be a guest speaker at the schools graduation. It was cool because before the graduation started I walked in a few of the kids were saying among themselves "there is Kyle" (my picture is on the cover that's how they knew who I was). So before the graduation I chopped it up with them and they told me that my book inspired them. It was cool.

Money wise it only cost about 400 dollars total for everything to be completed(ISBN, Copyright, Createspace page, and yearly amount to have my book sold on Amazon. I made my money back in about a week just selling copies I bought to people I knew, and I still get checks from my sales online.

Overall it has been a great experience and it was inspried me to write another one.

I remember when you were first publicizing it on Facebook man. It really is a good book, and I'm happy that you've seen success from it. Best of luck in your future endeavors homie.

Nice...this is the advice I was looking foor...good looks, man. I think all the tools are a bit cheaper now, and I know I'm gonna have to put out for a sick cover (like the name doesn't attract enough attention) so now I def feel like I can make this happen on time and under budget.

you don't know about that Mike Woods swag?  dude is like the best meteorologist like evarr....sometimes he sounds coked up when giving the weather.

soltheman- thanks man I appreciate it.

SoleWoman- I will never forget that we have the same birthday. Next week its on!

potus2028-The 400 dollars I mentioned included the money I spent in hiring a photographer for the cover too. Also, createspace gives you the option to assign you an ISBN that you don't have to pay for. The only drawback to that is that they own the rights to your book. So if it ever blows up, they still own it. I paid like 150 dollars for my own ISBN which was worth it to me.
