Hey, NT has helped my career to this point, let's see just how much I'll owe y'all.

So I guess I'm a writer now, put my first book out a little while ago and am about to start on my second screenplay next week. (Hold your kudos on a cool story until the end, please.) The problem, as I'm finding out, ain't writing the stuff, it's getting it out there to publishers/studios and the like.

However, they don't exactly read every piece of +*@! that some 'net random cooked up and sent to them express...so I need an agent. Of course, they don't post up on the corner going "yo, got that literary representation out", so it's a bit harder to find interest in your work than the inspiration for it...and that's where y'all might come in.

I realize that this is kind of a long shot on NT but worst case scenario, this derails and becomes something else entertaining. Either way, it's better than spending my lunch break with that guy I make up work not to have to speak to...so thanks in advance!

I post comments in threads so I guess i'm a writer too...Can I also get an agent?

hey, you're a writer if an agent thinks so...let's find out together.

There was a dude on here that used to intern/work for one of the big agencies out west, Hendrix something. PM WisePhaorah, he's in the industry and may be able to help. The whole process is hell, btw, so just be prepared and ready for that long, arduous climb to the top, and learn how to write an excellent query as well as a gripping first ten pages since that's basically what they judge you on. You could have an awesome novel or screenplay, but if the query's off or the first few pages are slow or meh, nothing will come of it. Hate that.

Thanks JRS, wasn't expecting help that fast. I've written about 3,000 query letters in the past few weeks and shotgunned 'em around in agent directories I found on Google and even got my first rejection letter (aww) so I'm getting my first tastes of the frustration that comess with the territory...I just need a little better way than basically throwing scripts and books around in the street hoping somebody picks one up and goes "hey, not bad...."

Next we need a Bond or Orlando Magic fan to chime in...

I feel you. Let me know what happens; could use a dude already established to help catapult my career as well word to Allen Ginsberg and Jack Kerouac

"Despite the actual screenwriting advice being some of the worst I've ever encountered, the backstage insider look into the business side of screenwriting is nothing short of amazing. Basically, the book tells you what happens after you break into the club. It's funny, it's sad, it's interesting, but if you ever wondered what it's really like to be a working screenwriter or you want to prepare yourself for when you finally make that big jump, this is definitely a book for you."

You're a sucker if you work a minimum wage job instead of teaching (preferably college).

That's where I'm at with it...I'm not expecting millions of dollars and a reality show by the end of the year. I just want to make a full commitment to my new career and have that be the main source of income.
