i'm going down to salvador, brazil at the end of august for a study abroad kind of thing with 10-15 other university students. being a photo enthusiast ireally want to bring my big dSLR camera and not resort to tiny handhelds, but the prevalent crime rate there has me wondering if i should really bring it.i'll be keeping it in an innocuous camera bag most of the time, slung around my shoulder and zipper kept in sight at all times. i'll be dressing normaland not flashy or anything to fit in as much as possible; however, being asian, it's a bit harder to hide from thieves preying on tourists (i'll bewearing a low baseball cap + sunglasses though to keep my race hidden as much as possible
).
so yea, just wondering if anyone has any experiences they could relay to me? anything would be appreciated, thanks
edit: if anyone can compare crime rates to any other places in the US, canada, europe, or asia, it'd be greatly appreciated, maybe that way i can relatesome other experiences with those. thanks!
