I make decent money but it seems like the more I make the more I spend. $$#* drugs and alcohol. Spending money is really a addiction to me. Any tips?

I have that same problem. What I did was get an online savings account like ING Direct. Create a automatic deposit that coincides with your paycheck. Even if you can only send $25 every two weeks it is a start. The key is to start off small.

My girl has the same problem. I usually take her card away and if she needs it she has to ask me for it. Seems to work

i stopped going to bars and saved a lot of money ... i stopped drinking period for a while and saved even more money ... i make my lunch everyday and that has saved me money ... being an economist helps a lot because i look at spending and numbers differently ... i focus on opportunity costs rather than monetary costs .... i try to focus my mind on the negative aspects of something i want to buy rather than the good ...
