So I want to see any effects of going non-dairy for a month...I already got my almond breeze on deck...tasted pretty good.
I just realized my whey protein is dairy based, anyone have any good non-dairy workout supplement suggestions...

Any advice or products to recommend?

Well my main reason for going non-dairy is to see if it clears up some of my backne. Besides that I can see the benefit of lower cholesterol, saturated fat and what have you. I think I eat enough chicken breasts for the day to cover my protein.

I wanted to get a protein powder for my workout that is not dairy based. I'm still researching it but in my ON Natural whey it contains lactase which breaks down lactose...so idk about that yet...might have to get some egg protein cuz pea/rice/hemp protein doesn't cover all the amino acids.

i tried some almond milk at my mothers house...it was disgusting. ill stick to fat free cows milk

I just drank a quart of chocolate milk like it was water

Im a milk addict but id like to know the benefits/results of a non dairy diet. I thought milk was great for you(in the proper amounts of course)

Wait dairy has been linked to acne?

Well damn for the past few months I drank so much milk (about 8-9 8oz glasses a day) my face kind of got messed up... I knew it had something to do with the protein

benefits of non dairy is less calories, less fat. more calcium i think? i used to drink dark chocolate almond milk, was good for a bit but got sick of it.

I'm not sure it's dairy exactly, but probably the high amounts of fat typically associated with dairy that do. Anyway, I'm pretty lactose intolerant, so avoiding it is no problem. Avoiding ice cream on the other hand.....@_@

This is going to be tough. You'd be amazed at all the things that have milk. I'm pretty close to being dairy free, not really by choice though.

So glad I clicked into this thread. Explains a lot.

I went nondairy for a while but eventually just settled for almond milk with my cereal and eating cottage cheese and now Greek yogurt as snacks. The protein content in both of those is too wonderful to wave off.

i'm telling you man...this vanilla almond breeze is doing work right now.
It sucks when you realize how much dairy we eat on the low...butter, ice cream, some cookies, whey, sauces....

Apparently eating dairy products lowers your brain power for a while.. which is why I don't drink milk or eat cheese or something before I study, I also try to avoid it before going to school.
My gym teacher in high school said its not natural for humans to drink milk. I don't think there's any cons to doing this. Your body would feel better overall. Milk is heavy it slows you down and stuff..

but I sleep on my side and I wash my sheets every week or two...

I dont go dairy free, but I drink almond milk b/c its better for you. Only thing is its expensive, b/c it goes bad quickly. After opening, its only good for a week.

Wait how is almond milk better for you? (not contesting, I'm wondering because I drink a lot of milk)

It didn't have nearly the same protein content (8g vs 1g) compared to organic 1% milk and had similar amounts of calories, just more carbs.

Tommy: You shouldn't drink that stuff anyway.[looking at the milk Turkish is drinking]
Turkish: Why, what's wrong with it?
Tommy: It's not in sync with evolution.
Turkish: Shut up.
Tommy: Cows have only been domesticated for the last eight thousand years. Before that, they were running around mad as lorries. The human digestive system hasn't got used to dairy products yet
