Hey NT I just moved to New Haven CT and was wondering if anyone knew of things to do here. I dont know anybody so any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

im from CT born and raised

know plenty about CT and new haven whats up?

i think we have a regional forum though.

It's called "Gun Wavin, New Haven," for a reason. Only reason I go to New Haven is to catch the commuter rail to NYC.

Sometimes take the drive down there when I have appointments at Yale New Haven hospital

Clinton Crossing Outlets is close by.

Ikea, usually for breakfast.

Hamburger was invented there. Louis Lunch

Frank Pepes Pizzeria I think is there, original location.

Pic I took of a sign outside a chinese spot right near the hospital. Didn't know you couldn't wear masks inside.

Burger is overrated in my opinion. Had it twice. Both times were meh. Kind of a tourist spot.

The only people I know of who refer to New Haven the way you did are young--mostly teenage--wanna be "thugs". Anyway, the statement is just not true. Of course, there are some neighborhoods that are not that great, but there are far many more perfectly safe places with highly engaged and friendly residents. Wondering if you are from a CT suburb--most northeast people know New Haven to be a great place and by far the only worthwhile city in CT. It seems that CT suburbanites with their strict "city-suburb" dichotomy are the only ones holding on to the inaccurate and negative view you seem to hold.

Where you from

Depends what you are into. Fitness wise, one of the best Crossfit outfits in the state is here: http://crossfitnewhaven.com

There's also a very strong biking community, one City park is more like a state park and great for hiking (East Rock), there's sailing in the harbor, of course a lot of art and culture, but also a lot of public art (spontaneous and otherwise), the International Festival of Arts and Ideas is coming up, a solid population of young professionals, creatives and creative entrepreneurs. If you say what you are interested in, I may be able to offer better suggestions.

For things to do, check out: http://www.on9newhaven.com and http://infonewhaven.com

A great general news source for New Haven is: http://www.newhavenindependent.org

Hope this is helpful!

Move out. NOW

I hate New Haven. I hate it so much. I had to live there for 3 months cuz my gf's going to yale and I hate it it's boring.

There's nothing to do. Take a train and go move out to NYC or something.

Better to eat:

and if you just want chain food, of course, there's things like chipolte, shake shack, etc.....

Shake shack is the nastiest ish in the world. It's super greasy man. Stick to Chipotle.

Also if you go in there you better hope it's the guys serving you. The girls who work there barely put anything on the tacos/burritos.
