He did a few new pieces out here in LA about a month ago (I believe) - they are over near La Brea and Beverly. They all feature the undefined or sunken feet(seen on a lot of his pieces) and they look great.

georgehimself, it was a surprise to a lot of people. after he hit those spots, I read an article on Digg that someone posted saying they had seen the newpieces.

i'm a fan. i'd never heard of him before december but then my sister gave me his book for xmas. he has some awesome work as well as quotes

There was a Banksy exhibit in NYC this past December (at the Vanina Holasek in Chelsea). Thing is, the actual exhibit wasn't "authorized",whatever that means. So it may or may not have been Banksy's work. There was a price-list there and there was nothing less than $10,000. He's aninteresting artist, but dude is just money hungry. Here are some pics I took (quality is typical of a Sony P&S digital camera, wish I had my DSLR then...):

The lightbulb wasn't part of his artwork. I just thought it was cool.

The girl in the middle is now a doctor. Don't know what that has to do with anything, but interesting nonetheless.

Google "Banksy's elephant."

He got a lot of heat for this particular project, but it is by far one of his best.

Oh, and this reminds me of a particular NTers blog from a while ago.

Never really been a fan. Whenever I see qoutes where he talks about his work he always comes across unnecessarily pompous. And technically his stencil work isabsolutely nothing new at all. His social commentaries are some what interesting but they always feel clouted in the ******ed remain anonymous steez thatpersonally after its gone on for so long I find gimmicky. It's like you're a world famous artist and really no one knows who @*%! you are becauseyou're trapped into a fruitless world of illegal art (graffiti) instead of taking it to installations or canvas. There are plenty of artists who started ingraffiti who moved into other mediums and became varying degrees of huge without compromising their work while he seems to be stagnating himself not moving on.He seems to focus on subverting authority rather than actually making work that functions as thought provoking all on it's own...

My art history teacher is obsessed with him.
Reminds me of the whole Lemony Snicket thing being an anonymous artist.

nice to see other people on NT are familiar. I'm just a huge street art fan - social commentary pieces or not, i'm always down for an artistic bombingrun.
