Hey NT, I'm just wondering if anyone has tried the program (Air Alert IV to be exact) and if your jumping ability improved 8 to 14 inches as advertised. I want to increase my hops since it'll really improve my game on the courts, and a friend of mine recommended me this program. Currently, I'm 5'8 and can get rim. If I can get that extra 8 inches, there's a slight chance I'd be able to dunk, which would be nice. I've read mixed reviews about Air Alert, with some people approving it and others saying it's just bogus.

Any opinions, reviews, or tips would be cool. I just want to see if Air Alert works for those who've tried it on here.

No program will improve your vertical by 14" man.  8 if you work hard and lucky.

Its not really that good for your knees either.  You'd be better off putting together your own program of plyo exercises and lifting.

Air Alert has you jumping 5 days a week Mon-Fri. That's not good.

i wouldn't advise doing it. sure it'll help your hops, but you'll regret it later.  i did it when i was young buck but now my knees hurt time to time. i dont play sports as much anymore

not good if you play alot of basketball.

^^^Yeah, 8 inches is basically my goal. 14 seems way too much.

AA has me jumping 3 days a week MWF one week, and TWTh another week, repeatedly. It might take a toll on my knees as the weeks go on.

Damn, this has me thinking twice about doing it. Maybe I should just stick to weight training and plyometrics exercises.

You guys know "programs" are just schedules of rep/sets of plyometrics, weights, and exercises, right?

But Air Alert sucks, don't do it. Air Alert 3 is the best because they finally realized after millions of complaints, that their rep scheme was overtraining and WAY too many jumps, didn't give you enough rest and recovery being 5x a week, and was unrealistic with the #s. It works though if you finish it.

I'd recommend something that incorporates both plyos and weights or bodyweight resistance exercises, like Mad Bounce 2, Scott's Creations, Jump For STS, are all my favorite.

I also have some of Luke Lowrey's programs, the ones that cost like $1,000 at one point, and it's just too much reading so I never did it.

I haven't dunked in like 2 yrs though, so I actually plan to get back into it at some point in the near future. I need to just lose weight really, but at my peek I could dunk off a pure vert and I'm 6'0, dropsteps, off glass, backwards, either hand, either foot, I had about a 6yr run where I was a beast jump athlete. Then I got fat, lazy, knees kind of started hurting around 23. I'm 27 now

Everything he said.

Just go educate yourself.

Just try dunking with something smaller than a basketball till u get the hang of it, then progress to a basketball

Vince Carter and Nate Robinson first started off with tennis balls, then went to volleyballs, then basketballs....

Vince also used the SkyKing Calf Isolator when he was at UNC. Brent Barry had one too. It actually used to be an obsession of mine in high school, even moreso than girls was my vertical leap. I have or had almost every gadget and program that was out there; Skyking Calf isolator, Squat Flex, Skyking Ankle/shin isolator, jump soles, built my own plyoboxes, Springbak Insoles (get these and not those $300 shoes, I haven't read up on the technology in the shoes if there even is any but if there is I guarantee you it's the same thing), and either bought or downloaded every program that came out.

I won an online dunk contest an got the Luke Lowrey one free and some other one that was really highly regarded and expensive, Project Vertical or Vertical Explosion or something, I don't even know because I didn't mess with them because they are too long to read and use an ebook software that doesn't allow you to print, screen cap, or anything.

But more than anything, pick a program, or just do day 1 of 1 program, give yourself 2 rest days, do day 1 of another, and figure out what works for you and what doesn't. Generally things that are more difficult for you to do will benefit you more, i.e if you can't do much weight on the lunges then you need to strengthen your hamstrings.

I loved depth jumps personally, also called box jumps. Not only did they make me jump higher, but I jumped ridiculously faster than everyone else. Like I could literally get pumpfaked, still hit the ground and jump again before the other person jumped once, those quick hops like a Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire, Kenyon Martin exhibit. The scientific term for it is stretch myotatic reflex.
Rest and nutrition are also critical.

yeah, i was big on AA3 way back in the day.. unfrotunately it $%%%%% up my knees to this day.

just get in the gym and squat man, way better for you in the long run

I haven't done it, but a friend of mine did. It does help your vertical but it's not very good for your knees.

Like others have said, do core exercises and work on your leg strength.

It takes a huge toll on ur knees. Vertical Jump Bible is great but i think u have to have access to a pool.
