Don't they just research and look up records and whatnot.
I remember watching a show on it where they looked up the ancestry of celebs.
I've always wanted to do this myself, as I have many different parts of my family from different parts of the world.
I'm just wondering the cost of such a thing.

If you go to most Mormon churches they have access to the computer programs (ancestry.com and a couple of others I can't remember) and they will let you use them for free. i tried looking up my roots at the big mormon church in LA, but I'm African-American and my fam is from the country in the south. Hell my grandparents don't have birth certificates. I didn't get really far.

I was talking about the ones where you send a DNA sample to the lab and they decode it.

I've always have wanted to do this as well. I can trace down to my great great great grandfather who was a slave master on my mom's side. So I'm not expecting to find to much good based off that lol.

From my parents own mouths here is the racial make up of my family.
Amerindian - second biggest most likely
African - biggest and most obvious
Indian - third biggest and probably not too much
Chinese - ??? (I think my mom is just confused. she, nor her parents have chinese features)

No. The Amerindian is on my dad's side. The Chinese claim is on my mom's side. It's just that miscegenation between blacks and chinese in Jamaica didn't happen so long ago. At least one in my mom's immediate family should have the features, but nope.

I was not referring to you specifically. I do not know your situation. But in the late 1880s in the U.s. there was quite a bit of interracial relationships between the Chinese and blacks who worked in the fields.
