"A green blimp  with the number '2014' and the Aphex Twin  logo appeared in London's skies this weekend. The Aphex Twin logo then appeared all over New York City. Go ahead and get full-on excited about that now, because Richard D. James has just announced SYRO, his first Aphex Twin LP since 2001's Drukqs. It was announced via Tor, the deep web browser typically used for the internet's more clandestine pursuits.

This morning, James tweeted a URL that only works with the Tor browser. The link revealed the above image, as well as what appears to be a tracklist. You can look at that below. We can confirm that all of this information: the image, the album title, and the tracklist, are all real and official."

Easily one of the best things to happen musically this Millennium.  Begging for a NY show.

It's been a whirlwind the past few years, my excitement over a long awaited announcement from one artist is just topped by another. I don't know if it'll get any better than finding out about this in 2014 though. Unless he drops all the crazy stuff he worked on and just shelved in the mid 90s or releases something else as The Tuss.

I'm definitely getting a Melodies from Mars vibe from the track, which is a great thing, his output in the mid 90s can not be touched.

€300 is a little steep though so I'm just gonna go with the regular vinyl release

Can't wait until Monday - hopefully I can pick up a copy at my local shop.

Yeah, $400 is a bit steep, if I win the lottery for it, I think I'd still get it and just sit on it for a few years. My physical cd and vinyl should be in on Tuesday.

Had a quick listen through those last week - I haven't had got around to listening to everything (there's loads of tracks and it looks like he's just added more) but this is pretty solid.
