According to a report from ESPN's Bill Simmons, the Houston Rockets attempted to cover up much of Ron Artest's unique behavior during the 2008-09season.
Artest nearly missed Game 7 of their series against the Lakers.

Artest missed the first two team buses (the ones for players, coaches and team personnel) from Houston's hotel to the Staples Center and barely madethe third and final bus, which was reserved for business staff, sponsors and friends of the team. These stunned people watched Artest sprint to the bus rightbefore it left, jump on and take one of the remaining seats ... yes, wearing only his underwear. Owner Leslie Alexander happened to be sitting on the bus andwitnessed the whole thing. And you wonder why the Houston Rockets didn't make any effort whatsoever to bring back Artest.

Simmons writes that Artest made a habit of walking around in public in his underwear during his Houston tenure.

He's right though, I watched all of the rockets playoff games, Arest has fell off and I don't believe he is an upgrade over Ariza.

Artest>>Ariza, even Simmons knows it his pure hatred for the Lakers though makes it impossible for them to compliment them.

I really dont wanna get into a debate over this, but how is Ron Artest, who is clearly better in almost every aspect of basketball less beneficialto LA than Trevor Ariza?

The stats say the Artest is better but I don't think that's true especially for this laker team.

Ariza knows his role, he doesn't take bad shots, he defers to Kobe and takes open shots when he gets them and he is a good at getting the ball into Pau. Iwatched Artest dude doesn't know his role, he has fallen off but he still belives he is young Artest. He takes really bad shots all the time, and theydon't go in that offten, he disrupts the flow of the ofense and even with his vaunted stregth he doesn't take advatage of it enough in the most, mostof the time he stick to random fade aways.

Also he is a poor post entry passer, really bad, that whole rockets team could not get the ball in to Yao and Artest was the main offender, he would look himoff and take another horrible fade away.

Defensively he is not as quick as he once was, he is still good, but when you watch him close he still trys to body dudes up and get real close and beat onguys but people blow by him more and more, like I said he plays like he is still young Artest but he isn't any more that's Battier will age betterdefensively becuase he makes adjusmest Artest is still getting up in dudes grills.


IMO I belive Pau Gasol is the lynchpin to that team, when he is involed in the offense the lakers O becomes down right unstopable, I belive Artests disruptsthat.

A lot of Ariza's success was solely based on Kobe making his teammate's better. I like Arize and he will continue to get better but he ain't inArtest's league.

Artest may be the better player today, but if Ariza keeps working, he could be better then Artest within a year, and we'll suffer for it.

Plus, no accounting for the amount of drama Artest can cause us, whereas Ariza causes zero (minus taking a Blazers head off, which I'm ok with.)

We might be a better team for 2010, but we won't for 2011, 12, 13, etc etc etc.

Kobe + Pau + Phil + anybody = at least another 4 "window" seasons. Throw in L.O. (???) andyou have a guaranteed contender.

What are the team buses doing leaving without Ron Artest? The media hate is so strong against him. All I have to sayis, ARTEST IS SO HOOD, VERY GHETTO AND LOVES IT. HOWEVER THERE IS SOME INTELLIGENCE WITH THAT , AND WITH THAT COMES PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SEEHIM FALL.
