ok then you are missing the point I’m trying to make as well. People will keep their heads down for racist comments but will speak up when their safety and livelihood is put at risk. That’s why THIS SPECIFIC INSTANCE is different and more serious than someone mocking Asian features or accents. You can walk away and continue living life as usual from someone who doesn’t like your eyes, but you could be killed or lose everything you worked for in a home invasion. If you don’t want to accept that, too bad, I’ll stop trying to explain it to you and will continue discussing with people who can relate.
You're entitled to feel this way and I'm still not telling you to not feel any particular way. That was never the message and never will be from me.
The fact remains that ascribing levels of racism will keep you bamboozled in the battle against racism.
It sucks that we are at the point where two people are here, both arguing against racism, but one is like well this is more racist, so I can't agree with your point about something else that is straight up racist as well.
Let that marinate.
Saying A is more racist than B, so thats why we let B slide is harmful.
